This is such a superb piece of flash! You capture so much character in this moment in time of a man and his dog Perfect image to accompany it as well. All the very best. This piece deserves great recognition!

A fine reflection, albeit sad for both. There is no easy way for a human to see his dog die, and equally no easy way for a dog to watch his human die.
Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

You are so correct in saying there is no easy way for a dog owner to see his pet age and die. Many thanks, Wendy, for sharing and praising my story.

The ironic thing with dogs is they generally don't let on about aches and pains. It almost like they don't want the sympathy, they want to be remembered young, vibrant and playful.
Good story, great phrases in proper vernacular.

Best of luck in the contest.

I very rarely give 6 stars, but this story deserves it so so well!!! Great piece of literature, the language (jargon-like) beautifully flows along and the end is a pinch in the heart!!! Really!!!!
Awesome job!!!

Excellent entry for 100 Word Flash Fiction writing prompt contest. I like how you wrote the true dialog. I agree, growing old sucks.

I enjoyed reading it. I also enjoyed your unique style and well chosen words. Your writing flows naturally and it's easy to understand.

Good luck in the contest.
Well done.

Here's a striking piece of work and all in 100 words - man and beast feeling their age, so to speak - the language enhances the tale and adds color - should make it to the winner's enclosure - has my vote

This story was well-written and heartbreaking. It was hell for me to watch my baby (dog) grow old and die. I knew I would outlive her, though. I imagine it would have been worse had I had to worry about having her suffer through life without me. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you.

This was an excellent 100-word story. You invoked great sympathy for this decrepit old pair. You could really feel your protagonist's pain as he felt his dog's pains on top of his own. Well presented too with the somber picture and gray background. Good luck in the contest.

I like this sweet but sad story about getting old and seeing it in your beloved pet too. The idea of writing it in country slang is excellent and I like the descriptions in it.
Good luck with it in the competition
