He he, he... it's true, who doesn't love poems about pets and the elderly? Christian Religion is a popular one too. But not other religions like Buddhism or Muslims...etc.

Thank you, Ron.

Anyway, I write what my heart and soul feels so I don't get too many reviews. LoL.

Lol. Yes, the list could go on for days. That's poetry, I guess. Haha. Thank you for the great review, Gypsy. That's all I do as well, write whatever I'm in the mood for. I seldom get too many reviews myself with the ridiculous stuff I put out there. I'm glad you liked this silliness, G. I hope you have a fantastic new year.

Funny, inspiring, truthful, and chock full of great information. What a ingenious combination! Thank you for your entry. A New Year's poem geared to help others. Great job!

You are in mood to shoot from the hip and I love it. Emotion does play a part in giving a 6 or a winner, be it pets, or tragedy. The need to pull at the heartstrings can be a winner. Oh the stories I can write about my cats!
Toody for being stupid, the brilliant muldoon , Rocky and Bullwinkle for their hunting skills in chasing balls! I could tug at the heartstrings with my adoption of Boris and Natasha.
Thank you I now know there will be a 6 in my future.
Sorry no 6, I am stingy in giving 6 stars and while heartfelt, it did not leave me weeping.

Mary

I liked this poem very much. It was humorous, but with good advice among the jest. Is there a name for this type of poem where the same line becomes the first, second, third, and fourth line of the four verses? It is very well done and seemed very natural. Great job.

Hey, Jim, hi. I know there's a name for it but I really couldn't tell you what it is. Lol. There's a couple different forms similar to this where you repeat a line from the previous stanza or repeat the first or the last line. I don't know what those are either. Sorry about that, Jim. I like this form though. It's pretty well just 8 syllables per line in iambic meter. I mainly like it because it's a little challenging to pull off. Thank you for the fantastic review and giant sixer, my friend. I really appreciate the rating and kind comments. I'm glad you liked this silly piece. I was just in one of those moods again. Lol. I hope you have a great upcoming new year, Jim. Thanks again.

Well done!

Yes, strum the heart strings and spill their tears and you are sure to get an extra star or too. And maybe win as well! LOL I know puppies, emotions, and hoping for miracles will do it for me! Loved the poem....

Happy New Year filled with joy and happiness.
Hugs, Carol

This is an amusing little poem with a cute idea. However, I do disagree a bit as some of my cute cat poems have not won (I'm not complaining though). The poem rhymes well and I like the repetition of the line' A new year's gift from me to you'. (I think that it should be 'new year's' with an apostrophe though as the gift belongs to the new year.) The rhyming is good so good luck with it

Well now, DragonSkulls, I do have to agree with you...First here on the site, it was my "Major" then it was
"Dominion", then it was "Smoke" (who was with us for 16 years) and now it's "Smoke" a hundred and ten pound designer dog (LabraDane) yes, I have written about him too...I guess old ladies like myself, also just love to write about the
"Olden days" I really enjoyed your poem, from beginning to end...It was very well written

Thanks for sharing..

May the New Year bring you and your family continued Blessings...
Warmly,
Victoria

Smoke. What a cool name. I've never heard anyone's pet named that before. I might have to keep that in mind. Our cat's getting up there in years and the wife maybe wants a little dog again after her. I'm hooked on Smoke now so we'll have to find a pretty gray puppy somewhere. Lol.

Thank you so much for the great review and giant sixer, Victoria. Yes, we all write about our pets and the precious olden days. I just like poking fun at it sometimes. Lol. I'm glad you liked the piece, V. I hope you have a wonderful upcoming new year as well. Thank you again.

You are so right. The other sure winners are anything to do with the military, and death, or both. I guess perfect love as well. Sunsets. And don't forget politics. Now that I have thought that through, I'll see if I can combine them all into one really good story. Or perhaps a poem. Perhaps a suite of 5-7-5s. Ah well. Best wishes for your well-written, funny, cynical and slightly sarcastic entry! Lol.

The list could go on forever. Lol. That's poetry I guess. I just seem to get more enjoyment by cutting it down. Haha. Thank you for the fantastic review and stars, Wendy. That would be a great idea, combining them all together. Lol. I hope you have a fantastic new year, Wendy. Thank you again.

Who says animals can't smile. The one in your picture is having a pretty good stab at it. Your poem too contains as much of the Vhristmas spirit I can safely consume in a single night's reading.
