I was drawn in by the picture with the title - it looks like a space ship taking off and also a mushroom, both of which will bring the high life.
But then your words tell us of the low life that inevitably follow.
I don't normally give a six for poetry, but in this case the two extremes represented here make this an interesting work.

This poem only uses a handful of sllyables, but still manages to tell a true story of addiction. I was once addicted to pain meds and it was awfully hard to recover, but I did. A great contest entry, thanks for sharing.

This is an outstanding piece.
I love the graphic and you have nailed the emotions involved in addiction here. It flows beautifully, is an easy read and puts into words something that is really difficult to express unless you have experienced it.
