You are black and I am white, remove our skin and we are the same. It breaks my heart when I hear accounts such as you speak of here. I wish I had the power to fix it, but all I have is my prayers and compassion for every member of your race. You did an excellent job relating your feelings about the matter. Your words caused me to feel your pain and frustration and that marks you as an excellent writer.

A strong poem. Personally, I feel the line, 'served in your military' should read 'served in our military'. Maybe it's just semantics, but there is a big separation between 'your' and 'our'. Nice work. Thanks.

Thank you. Sadly, no amount of sacrifice will ever be enough to erase a hatred that goes so deep as to be inborn, and reinforced by the environment one grows up around.

Although I'm white, I hail from a working class background where prejudice and class structure existed in my youth, there were little or few coloured folk back then, but still prejudice. It's not confined to colour, I fought prejudice within myself, but meeting Christ was the clincher for me, but yet many Christians still haven't learned. What can I say? For in God's economy there is only love, grace and equality. How awesome is the gift of brotherhood Christ gives us? Beautifully written Bro, blessings Roy

Thank you brother Roy. Does the rose hate the sunflower? They are both flowers, but vastly different in the way that they look. Does the horse hate the donkey? They are both equine, but somewhat different in appearance. God created us with a variety of appearance just as we plant different flowers so that we can be entertained by the difference.

Sadly, it isn't only the soldiers of color who are forgotten and treated shabbily. Many of all soldiers are denied their rightful benefits and left to die on the streets every day. Thanks for sharing. I hope you are enjoying the holidays and have your best New Year ever!

Just as we, sadly, treated the Vietnam vets when they returned from a war they were forced to fight.
