12 year olds were my favorite age for students: Maybe I identify with Cody because he is ADD like me: "There was one number still on the board when Mr. Heigal turned to Cody. Lost in his own world, the blond munchkin paid no attention to the conversation around him and continued to doodle in his notebook." Because he thinks outside the box, the answer had to be accepted

Cody is different in any respect. But he did get the answer right in the end. Now he can go away on his break and be proud of himself. I enjoy this story as you know. Ulla:)))

Hello Brett, was this a lucky guess or did Cody know the answer from experience. I was a full blown adult in the navy before I ever heard of doing that. I tired dropping a tree in a lake that I fished, but not having a good way to discover it again, I never benefited from my work. Trees are great cover for fish and fry. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a blessed New Year.
Tom

It's always great to read about Cody, and there was nothing I would have rather heard than that Cody could hardly wait for Christmas break. We hope all kids have something to look forward to over the holidays. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had a six.

Possibly the only question via the teacher that Cody got right! I like this character, probably a character close to being like me that one can get. I love my Christmas holidays too, they lasted a whole seven weeks or so, beautifully written Brett, well done, a happy, healthy and prosperous new year to you and yours, blessings Roy

Cody seems very different from the other students. He seems wiser. I would never have thought of that as an answer. He seems to know or figure out a lot more than the average Joe. Maybe he's had to figure out more things in his young life. Protected and children living in safe environments aren't usually the kinds to dig deep for answers. The ones who have to protect themselves and fend for themselves work a little harder at procuring information. This is an interesting series. Gretchen

Cody is very different from other kids. He has had to be to survive what he lived through in Palo Pinto the first ten years of his life. Appreciate your comments and the review.

Another great chapter. Wouldn't it be nice if Cody's adoptive Dad provided a real tree for him? I know this is an American thing but I hate prepositions left out ie... a couple (of)groups

Once again my friend, you are so right. A real tree makes a world of difference. So, bye-bye artificial. Keep those corrections coming!

Well Cody gave a good answer for a kid who wasn't paying attention and this eliminated all the test questions. Since you said the Cody had a bit of an altar boy in him, I'll rethink the part about you being a lot like Cody unless you developed that side after you left the group home and was adopted by a decent guy.

After six books, and a live theatrical production of my book Astatula performed by a Troupe here in Nashville, Cody has many aspects to him. Not sure I have even uncovered them all yet. Sometimes I wonder what is next for the little pipsqueak? However, he always lets me know...eventually. Appreciate the comments and the review.

I have known young'uns like Cody and have always been fascinated by them. Thank you for sharing this addition to your story. I am enjoying reading. I can't wait for the next addition. I didn't find any room for improvement.

This is a very educational piece for those people who need to know how to repurpose that Christmas tree. You did a great job. Have a wonderful day. Shirley
