I think I understand this story. We had six. Three boys, and three girls, some fifteen months apart. Yep, boys will be boys and the girls, well you know the story. Well said, writer.

    Hello Ben,
Thanks so much for the great review and comments. Girls have their own set of issues, as you well know. Aside from the physical issues, there are all the other things that dads worry about concerning their daughters. I never worried too much with the boys. Aside from some stupid behavior, they took care of each other.
    Have a blessed evening.

So you have seven children. That just means you were blessed seven times over. Other peoples' snide comments are out of place and should not be made.

The inconvenience of nine people sharing a bathroom. But, it all worked out okay.

Shaving his brother's head. Sounds just like something twin boys would do.

Sure they were involved in other escapades as well.

Hi Brett, thanks for the great review and comments. We had never planned on having that many kids, but I'm so glad we did. I can't imagine having fewer. Somehow, through all the hardships, we managed to get through just fine. It's been quite the ride.
Have a blessed day. Happy New Year.

I enjoyed your story very much. Of course when families get together they reminisce of those times that weren't maybe so much fun back then, but are in retrospect.

Your engaging style of story telling works very well.

Happy New Year to you. :))

    Hello Gloria,
Thanks so much for the outstanding review. It's always fun when we get together and rehash old stories and events. My family has a pretty good sense of humor, and we can laugh at ourselves, which is a big plus. I hope that you have a blessed new year as well. Stay safe and warm. God bless and keep you.

Large families are like a barrel full of monkeys. I had seven brothers and four sisters, so I speak from experience. Only six of us are left, but we still enjoy time together. Nice story.

Wow, that's a lot of people growing up in one house. I wouldn't change anything though. I think having to learn to share and get along with each other is helpful later on in life. I'm sorry to hear that you've lost so many of your siblings. It must be very painful. Thanks so much for the fine review and great comments gal.
    Have a blessed New Year.

A humorous story that makes a good point. We do crazy things in our youth but what fun to tell them years later. To my sorrow, I don't recall doing anything weird, but then I only had a younger sister.

    Hello Shari,
Thanks so much for the fine review. I did so many stupid things when I was a kid I could probably write a book about them. In fact, I don't think there was another way of doing things aside from stupid when I was young. Somehow I managed to grow up. Only by the grace of God I suppose. Have a blessed New Year.

Wow, seven children, Tom. I can attest to the idea that birth control was difficult at the time. I really liked the picture of two of the boys canoeing. I can easily understand the antics of those seven children. Especially the twins, lol. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessings n Happy New Year.

    Hello aryr,
thanks for the fine review gal. Birth control was available, but living on the farm, it was, like everything else, difficult to access. We were four miles away from town, and forty miles from Juneau, which could only be reached by boat or plane. I chose the picture of the boys in the canoe because I have one on the back of my boat. When they were younger they used to get it down and paddle around. Also when we went hunting up the bay, we'd anchor the boat and take the canoe to the beach. You had to tie it off above the water line or the high tide could come in and strand you. There was another picture available that showed two little boys naked as a jaybird that I almost used, but I thought better of it. I tried to download a picture from my files from when Ben graduated from the school where he earned his green beret. Brian was in the navy at the time, so they were both wearing their dress uniforms and made a striking picture. Some day I'll figure out this computer. Have a safe and blessed New Year.

Hi TB! That's a really good one! The closest my little brother ever came to that one was when he was about 6. He didn't like the way his hair grew up and sprayed out around his cowlick... so he cut it off... one bald spot, made to order! He didn't live that one down for a long time. He had 3 big sisters to pick on him! He was good for laughs at a young age... when he was 8 or 9, he ran right into a tree. Wasn't even a small tree. It was a big one. He got a big knot on one side of his forehead. As soon as it went away, he did it again! Same tree, other side of his forehead. It wasn't on purpose. Write it down, write it all down I say... their kids are all going to thank you for it one day, and your kids are going to want to kill you! LOL
Loved this very fun story!
Happy New Year!
Susan :)

    Hello Susan,
thanks for the great review and the hilarious comments. I was relating the story that Autumn mentioned when she was visiting the other day. The kids all have stories that keep us in stitches. Of course we didn't hear about any of it when they were young. When the guys were three or so, we had our Chevy Suburban parked at the top of the hill where we were staying. They climbed inside and grabbed the steering wheel and were "driving". One of them took the tranny out of park and the car went backwards down the hill and crashed into a row of blueberry bushes. It was the only thing that kept them from ending up in the apartment across the street. As I mentioned, never a dull moment. Have a safe and blessed New Year gal.

Just love this Tom, boys will always get themselves into strife at some stage or other, no matter how well balanced they may be, there were four boys in our household growing, fortunately I had two daughters, who rarely got themselves in trouble, but twins?!? That sounds like double trouble. Beautifully written my friend, happy new year, blessings Roy

    Hello Roy,
thanks so much for your kind words and great review. Before Jan ever got pregnant with them, she had prayed that if she was ever expecting again it would be twin boys. With five older sisters she was afraid that one boy would either turn out to be a tremendous wimp, or in self defense, become a bully. Have a safe and blessed New Year.

I got a good laugh when I read this post. I love family stories. There were only five children in my family and friends and family always got together at Thanksgiving because my dad and brothers went deer hunting. Every year they would tell these funny stories on each other. I'm writing them down as I remember so I can pass them on to my nieces and nephews. Happy New Year!

    Hello Mary,
What fun! The boys and I used to go deer hunting on Thanksgiving as well. Of course we hunted many more days than that. Alaska has a deer season that lasts from August 1 to December 31. If you couldn't get one by then, you shouldn't be hunting. I'm glad you're writing the stories down. Whenever the family gets together we re-hash the old stories and it's hilarious. Thanks so much for the great review and comments. Have a safe and blessed New Year.
