Thank you for sharing this episode in your life. It was humorous and understandable especially for male siblings who not only come up with strange ideas but then have the need to fulfill them.

    Hello Tom,
Well said! Where the heck do we get these brilliant ideas? Its like there is a stupid gene that boys are born with that can't see the results of cause and effect. Oh well, it makes life interesting. Thanks for sharing these humorous comments.
    Have a blessed day.

People ask you, "How'd that happen?" LOL, do you tell them:-)

I actually typed that last line before I read the second paragraph - so you DO explain it, lol!

I'm glad that the second bathroom "relieved" you.

What a fun story this was to read - I could just see the hydrogen peroxide bubbling up on your son's head. With seven kids, you must have quite a few stories to tell.

Thanks for sharing this one.

    Hello Pam,
thanks so much for this fine review and comments. I think I spent much of my time when they were growing up trying to forget some of the things they did. It was always something. I'm just glad they didn't burn down the house. The boys did wreck the car once when they were playing in it when it was parked on a hill, but that's a story for a different time. Have a blessed day gal.

Oh a wonderful fun story, and I wish I had a six left for you! I love the way you wrote it too, excellent. I am sure that your family was filled with much fun and laughter! My son was the practical joker in our family, and still is, with me and his two sisters, and now also with his three daughters, niece and three nephews. And we all love it.

    Hello Wendy,
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this story. Like all families, there were good times and not so good. For the most part it was fun having such a large family when they were growing up. It's hard to believe that we raised such a large brood, but it all worked out. Yes, there are lots of funny stories, and when we get together we re-hash them. It is fun. Have a blessed day.

We have three adult children (35,37,40) boy- girl- boy, NJ, Maryland and Florida. It's been a number of years since we were all together, but that will change in about 26 days when, Rob (Florida) will fly up for a week. We all can't wait. He was always the straw that stirred the drink. We can't wait.

By the way... I thoroughly enjoyed your story. Hopefully you'll have more to share.
P.S. that hydrogen peroxide hitting yhe open wounds on his head HAD TO HURT.,

Cheers. John

    Hello John,
thanks for the fine review and comments. I hope that you all have a wonderful time while you're together. Three of the girls live in Alaska, as well as both boys, but we have one daughter in Iowa and one in Wyoming that we don't see very often. I like that saying- the straw that stirred the drink. I've never heard it before. I think I would like to adopt it myself as the occasion occurs. Yeah, I guess it was kind of painful when the peroxide hit the cuts. Brian was always pretty reactionary and he hit Ben when he felt the pain, or maybe it was because Autumn laughed. Have a blessed day.

It sounds like you had a lot of fun with your family Tom and you left behind a fine legacy. The Christmas present list must have been quite daunting each year though. I wished I had had more kids, but we stopped at two. A fine story Tom, I have a Grandson and I often think he is naughty, but my daughter always says boys are different and I should be more tolerant! Love Dolly x

    Hello Dolly,
Yes, you're right about the gifts at Christmas. As the years wore on and the kids got old enough to buy gifts for each other, there was hardly room enough to get around the living room on Christmas day. We had a lot of good times, but of course that many children brought challenges as well. We used to go through a whole loaf of bread every day after school just so they could have cinnamon toast as a snack. We didn't have much money, and for years we didn't own a vehicle, but we always had plenty of food and paid our bills on time and there was lots of love between us. Boys are a little more adventurous than girls for the most part, and they seem to lack the ability to see how their actions will affect them, but somehow they manage to make it to adulthood. Miracles still happen. Have a blessed day gal.

What a fun story, Tom! How did I miss the fact that you have seven children? You probably mentioned it and my short term memory kicked in. (or out)
I bet your Christmas was a fun one. How many were home? everybody?
Anyway, cute story. Boys can really be funny and do crazy things.
Hope you all have a Happy New Year!

    Hello Katharine,
I may not have mentioned it to you before about the number of kids we have. Of course or Christmas's now are much calmer and quieter. Autumn, Liz and Jen were here for Christmas as well as Jen's youngest daughter and two of Liz's kids, plus two sons-in-law. I think the kids all want to have a family reunion in 2024. We'll see if that develops. Happy New Year gal. Have a blessed day.

An interesting story. The flow is good. The images are clear. The narrative stays on point. It is filled with humor. The end is as expected an ongoing retelling.

Thanks for a good read.

Thanks so much for the great review and comments dellsworthpoet. I'm happy that you enjoyed this. If I were to search my memory, I'm sure that I could come up with a number of other humorous stories, though at the time they weren't so funny. With this many kids, there was no shortage of issues. Have a blessed day.

You did seem like you had a heckuva lot of fun with your family of nine. Ours was six and I'm still amazed we made through. BTW, I noticed in the background of your Bio pic the picture of an Air Force airman, I believe taken at Lackland AFB, Texas. I think everyone sat at the same angle. You could replace his face with mine (at that age) and people would swear we were one and the same.

I only notice one oversight in your story: "Of course, unless they having been living under a rock, [... they HAVE been living under a rock,] But that's minor. You've written a very interesting and entertaining story.

    Hello Jay,
Thanks for the wonderful review and comments. It seems no matter how much I try to check for errors, I still manage to have them in every post. Thanks for catching that. The picture you mention is of my dad. He was an army paratrooper at the end of WWII. I'm not sure where that was taken. It's one of those things that I wish I could sit down and discuss with him. When I was young we didn't discuss his life much. When I got older, I wasn't around, so never got the chance. If we could only go back and change a few things. Have a blessed day.

I guess you should have titled this "Boys will be boys and girls know better?"
...
Well it was quite enjoyable and an interesting history of life growing up on a farm with a large family.
...
We did the second bedroom and additional bathroom thing never came about unfortunately.
And, unfortunately that's why as a really small child in an unheated additional bedroom.
Yes, because the space oil heater was broken.
I would pee myself!
...
This was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and flowed well with No Grammar Issues.
Invest in Curad Bandaids Stock!
Thanks for sharing this and have a Blessed New Year.

    Hello Ricky,
Thanks so much for the entertaining review. I'll look in to the Curad stock tip ha, ha. We had four bedrooms in the house, with three girls in one, two in one and the two boys in one. As they grew up and left we re-arranged things. Of course there were less people in each room, but they were bigger, so space was still an issue. Have a blessed day. Stay safe.

This is a sweet story that sounds just like kids. We had seven kids also, but not your way. Adopted the first three and when they were grown took custody of 4 more. We managed with one bathroom with the first three, but by the time we took in four, two of them still in diapers, we had to turn our new to us 3-room cottage into a four-bedroom triplex. Life is always full of surprises.

    Hello Carol,
thanks so much for the great review and comments. I applaud you for providing a home to those kids in need. In recent years I've wondered if we shouldn't have taken in a child or two after ours were grown up. There is so much need for good homes. Thanks for stepping up to the plate. You're a hero in my eyes.
    Have a blessed day.
