A fabulous poem of faith for the contest. Very powerful because you speak of lived experience, and like all of us, experience ongoing hurt from the past. So I particularly like the positive transition into the present, as in the last two refrains. The past is gone and the scars also. Because of Him. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

I love your letter from God, the center of our joy. This is an inspirational piece. Your poem tells the story of a traumatized young child having to deal with pain and shame all alone. I love your powerful message. Bad experiences don't define you. We are redeemed by the love and the blood of Jesus. I'm calling this year, 2023, the year of restoration. What a powerful poem! This is a good reminder that we can forgive the past and move on in Jesus' love and strength. I like the change of the refrain from scarring events of the past to defining events in the present. Well done! Best wishes in the contest and blessings in 2023. Carol

You expressed your emotions well. I am so glad that Jesus scars took every scar on you away of being sinned against. I'm glad you gave your life to Him, and He is glad to call you daughter. You need never carry guilt for others' sins!

This is the first poem I'm reviewing this year, and I couldn't have chosen a better one. Your rhyme and your meter are nearly perfect. (My only suggestion would be to change "perplex" to "perplexed" in the seventh stanza, in terms of grammar and making a better rhyme with "next.")

Michelle, as always, you are so sweet. Yes I was molested by my godfather and said if I told, something bad would happen to my dad. So he stole my childhood and I feared my whole life. Then at 17 I was raped so it was a lot to forgive. However they don't get to steal my present and my time w my great friends like you! I thank you so very much for your lovely review and kind words for my poem. And also for your gift of six stars!

Debi, words can't express how sorry I am that you had to endure all you did, especially at such a young age. But the fact that you have come through it all with such a positive attitude, and such a beautiful smile, speaks volumes for the type of person you are, and makes me so proud to call you my friend!
I'm glad you found FanStory, as it offers a wonderful outlet for stories such as yours. I've encountered a number of people on the site who've shared similar history. I admire all of you for having the courage to tell your stories, and for recognizing that this is a safe space to do so.
I'm so happy that my small suggestion was able to make an already great work that tiny bit better.

Yes, when God gave us that famous scripture Lamentations 3: 22-23, the mercies of God are new every morning. God is not interested in what we've done, He can forgive us for them. He's only interested in changing and handling the now, and that can influence and change your future, He is a merciful and kind, this is beautifully written Judy love the repetitive narrative Debi. I god could forgive those who sought to murder his only begotten son. If Jesus could forgive Saul of Tarsus who persecuted so many of his followers. If the apostles could forgive and accept Paul as one of their number. Surely we can find it in our hearts to forgive, as for pardoning them, that is something only God can do. However, if we would want to be like God, them we must love unconditionally, freely forgiving, and allowing God to do what only he can do. God bless and keep you my dearly beloved sister.

Amen, my wonderful brother! That is exactly what my message was.
Either I could allow my uncle, (molester) and (rapist) to steal what time I have left, like they did my childhood or I can take back what is my inheritance that God meant me to have. And about twenty years ago I finally told my dad and siblings, and gave my life back to Jesus.
I am an emotional chatterbox who loves so deeply, because I blocked everyone out growing up. I never talked, laughed and couldn't report it because he threatened my dad if I told. So I lived in fear. Then ten years later when I was raped, I just locked that up in the same whole in my heart.
Now I am freed by the blood of the lamb!
Oh Nolan, my sweet friend, I saw such good in you and when we met, I knew if you had truly been my brother, things might have been different. So that is why whenever we talk, I feel such peace. It's hard to explain, but it is there is such a safe and secure love I have for you.
Ok, tears coming.
Thank you for your wonderful words of wisdom. I've come to expect that from you, as I am in awe of your love for our mutual Father!

I have my own warts, but the difference is, I know what it means to be a Christian: No judging, no hatred, as much as possible no lying, and above all, love for my fellow beings, no matter what.
