Fortunately, a solution presented itself. This is well written, but the perfect solution to the bullying in such a short story makes it seem too contrived. Since word count is optional, perhaps you could flesh it out some, making a good story even better.

Hi Heather,
What a sweet story. Boys that pull pigtails, is that still a thing? Do they still let that happen? Well, boys will be boys after all. Lily sure knew what to do. Too bad boys are always so slow to learn! Too busy catching toads and tadpoles to get further into the water than their ankles I guess. LOL
A fun story showing the bravery of young ladies.

Silent waters run deep, love that expression, but sometimes the taunted ones develop much more character than the popular, out going ones, and in the long run develop more strongly than the good looking ones, however some remained scarred for life, and that's bad.
