Thank you so much, Dolly, for the wonderful review and 6 stars. I always try to rhyme and flow as well as your poems do.

Haha, the boy did ask, but what did he learn in the end?
I enjoyed your fun poem. Great job with the smooth flow
and good rhymes. This would've been a great entry in the
question contest a few days ago--maybe a few tweaks.
Thanks for sharing, Jim. I imagined many could identify
with the boy and his dad, Jan

Funny you mention that. I actually did write it for that contest, only to discover after I had written it that I couldn't enter it because I had won a contest less than 30 days prior.

Thanks for the good review, Jan.

This is fabulous! I love this easy banter and questions between father and son. I set out on my parenting journey to have all the patience in the world to answer every question or find the answers for these inquisitive minds. Very quickly I had to resort to "You have so many great questions! Now you must choose carefully because you only have one more left for the morning and then no more until after lunch". Your poem flows so smoothly in rhyme and rhythm. I really enjoyed this!!

Thank you so much, Karyn. I like your technique of limiting the questions. Brilliant!

The trouble is I think kids think we know everything because we are their dads or mums, but the truth is...beautifully written Jim, oh yes indeed, I know some of the answers, but don't know now of course, you're getting so good, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you so much, Roy. My son was like that little boy when he was growing up. Always with the questions, many of which I couldn't answer--only guess at. Today we have Google to help us with the grandkids' questions.

I really love this poem and I can certainly relate to it. When I was little I asked far too many questions, and my kids did the same. I welcomed it though because it showed how active thier minds were. Thank you for sharing.

My son was like that little boy, and I had a tough time answering a lot of his questions too. Wish we'd had Google back then.

    Thanks for the great review!

Not only is your well-crafted poem rhythmical and delightful, it also teaches readers a very important lesson of questioning that which we do not understand!
I taught for 38 years. Always told my students (and my own children) to question everything!

Kudos!

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, Diane. I can remember well my own son's tough questions that I couldn't answer when he was a kid. Thank goodness we have Siri, Alexa, and Google today. It's sure a lot easier to answer my grandkids questions.

I see you are multitalented. I am challenged as a poet. LOL Your poem is very well written and having raised four boys and am a retired first grade teacher for after 26 years, I do understand the questioning. This was a fun poem to read. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Barbara. My wife is also a retired first grade teacher and has many stories of kids' questions. I can remember well my own son's tough questions that I couldn't answer when he was a kid. Thank goodness we have Siri, Alexa, and Google today. It's sure a lot easier to answer my grandkids questions.

ah, the questions of the young

I have two grandson's one 6 the other almost 5

I can already see the true innocence of their questions starting to fade

.... its warming but a bit sad, to see the transition

Yeah, it is. But it's also fun to see their minds develop. The other day my 9-year-old grandson had to explain to ME how a differential works. He knows more than I do about it!

I enjoyed your poem, Jim. And, I certainly relate. When my kids were young, I bought several of those question and answer books. I thought my inquisitive children might enjoy them. But no. They just liked asking me questions and seeing me flounder.
Today with the grandkids, we ask Alexa or just Google it.
Times have changed. Questions remain.
Your poem made me smile, Jim. Thank you.

Thank you, Debbie. Yes, Alexa and Siri and Google are very handy these days in helping us look less foolish.

It reminds me of an Australian advertisement where a child asks his father why the great Wall of China was built, "To keep the rabbits out," answers the father. Haha. Love the humour. Job well done.
