Seems you have found a time you can enjoy and make all your own.

Attitude, and how one considers things, as well as what they dwell on, does make a world of difference in life.

Attitude does make a huge difference. I have learned that as I've gotten older. Thanks so much for this nice review. Gretchen

Hello there, my friend. I must tell you, I enjoyed your story so much, it resonated with me so deeply, it sounds like my life completely. (accidental Rhyme but that was cute lol)
It gave me a comforting, feeling that there's somebody else just like me out there. The only difference is I just walk out my room into my kitchen to my coffee pot. lol.

Great read!
-Kerry

Thank you, Gretchen. What you've mentioned here is a remedy for sanity that needs to be bottled and sold on the shelves of our local drug stores. Age changes a person, as you've mentioned, and we become much more vulnerable to the punishing quiet, but our acceptance of the changes keeps us saying, It is what it is. Loved it! Best, JohnC

It is, indeed, what it is. Once you accept that, you can handle life so much better. No more wasted time trying to figure out the why's or wondering what if. Thank you for your wonderful review. Gretchen

I escape into reviewing, in the morning, but I think you're right about this tome of the day, it is the best time, my wife lies beside me along with our delightful Moodle dog, who is a great source of comfort, we didn't know we needed him, till God brought him here, seemingly by necessity for him, we had no intention of owning another dog. But...it is what it is. Beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy

Love it. Funny how when we think we are doing something for something or someone else, it boomerangs on us. We took in a friend of my son's, it was supposed to be for a week. Two years later it was the very best decision we ever made. Thank you so much. Gretchen

Yep, you?re right, but God knows we are sympathetic towards those in need, though we didn?t know it was us.

"Just breathe." Fantastic advice in itself. And age certainly does change things, especially our priorities. What once seemed so important, seems such a waste, time having passed so quickly, and guarantees of tomorrow. So, now, we can live each day to the best of our abilities, and worries we can't change be damned. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading. Changing priorities is a constant. From youth to having our own children, to career, to taking care of aging parents. Life is a series of events. Gretchen

Yes, you are so right. The cycle of life: when things are bad, we mustn't get too worried, because all but once they will get better; when things are good, we'd better get ready, things are about to fall to pieces. :-)

Age changes a person. Some changes are tough to accept. But this is one change, I have to be okay with or I would lose my mind.
Age changes us is true, Gretchen. It it is my faith in God that has helped me accept what has happened in my life. I know he has a reason for taking Mark and Rhonda at this time. I have no idea what it could be, but "it is what it is" and I can't change it with tears or cursing fate. They are in a better place and I accept that. Good job, Dear. Nancy:)

A friend once said this to me. "Sometimes even angels wonder why." I know without my faith I would have given up multiple times. Thank you for this nice review. Gretchen

Thank you for the advice. I am not a coffee drinker but am a tea drinker. I also like the early morning hours. I take my cup of tea outside, on most days, with my little dog, Harley and sit and reflect on the beautiful sun rise and the silence. It's a peaceful time as the birds wake up to the promise of what the day has in store for us.

This sounds like great advice. I have learned over the years to sit with myself in the early morning hours and just be. I am also aware of the possibilities of the new day dawning and I learned to reach for the positive instead of the negative thoughts in my life. Thank you for this educational and enjoyable read. I hope to do what you suggest every morning.
Jesse

Good morning, Gretchen. I love to stay positive even when the earth is falling all around me. Staying positive helped me through the recent huge earthquake.

You have just described my morning routine, including the thoughts, except that I'm on a lanai without the candle.

A very nice essay on the simple things you've found joyful and positive.

And I did think of Bowie when I saw your title:-)
