Great pic to illustrate your poem.
Living the life of a fisherman is not easy: it's very demanding both physically and mentally.
Boats leave in the wee hours of the morning, to face the ocean( sea), a vast blue expanse that can bewitch but can also be a bitch.
The winds and storms also makes this trade very risky and earnings are often not worth the candle.
Fishermen's wives don't have it easy either alway worried for their loved ones.
Reaching a ripe old age as a fisherman is definitely a triumph.
Personally I enjoy the ocean from the safety of the shores , I don't feel comfortable knowing there are predators below that see me as a meal. There are also other dangers like poisonous meduse and insidious currents

If I may be honest I am not too sure about the
end word - greatness. Perhaps - noble or prideful -
would describe a Portuguese fisherman who has
spent many years working hard to provide.

After reading this work again, I felt the word `triumph` made the most sense. It signifies has triumph in life for longevity and his success as a fisherman. Thanks again for helping me flush this out.
