You take your reader with you and into your head. The internal dialogue resonates with me. If you don't use it, you lose it! I'm impressed by your daily routine and the way you describe your feelings about it and the people who share your desire to keep fit.

Well, I said I would not bother you with my input - I lied. As I mentioned before, I am addicted to your work. You have taken me through so many adventures with your written word. Your writing is like a conversation with your readers.
There is an art to growing old gracefully and I do believe you have achieved it. I fought it for a while, but finally gave in to the inevitable; much happier now.
About your piece, as always, I loved it. You remind me of my brother Nick, whom I adored. I always looked forward to his letters. As you do, he took me along on his many adventures. Thrilling!
I guess we're not done speaking to each other, so I will be peaking in every so often.
Until then, may our Lord bless your coming in and going out,

This edition of the Door series, The Door of Dismay, focuses on that one fact of life we cannot escape -- aging. We may seek to remain young, but it is on par with the search for height while falling.

Hello, kaiku,
I like your story. We are close in age and I can relate. Good for you for caring about your health and exercise every day.
I enjoyed reading your story. It moved along nicely and the plot was easy to understand and follow. Good character development.
Well done, my friend.

Good chapter in your Doors of Albufeira,
To me that's an impressive 40 minute workout routine.
Me, I run 5-7 miles 4times a week with jump rope on non run days. I do a few sets of sit ups and on the summer swim everyday in my pool.
It works for me at 68.
Cheers.... John

Yes, health requires effort!! And I applaud you for your dedication to keeping healthy and physically fit! The outdoor gym sounds much better than an indoor one. What if it snows? Rains?

Doesn`t snow here and sun is 320 plus days a year. If it rains, I sit inside and read your great prose.

I enjoyed reading your chapter. You have excellent observation skills. I guess doing reps can get boring so what to do but observe? I admire your steadfastness in your exercise program. Alas, I am not there. I agree with your Haiku at the end. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

I am seventy three and out of shape. Not in the best of health at all and I've been trying to work up the courage to go to the local WMCA to workout and build up some strength. I admire you for sticking to your routine. Maybe I'll get there soon.

Ciao!
Come on .... You are always going to feel down if you compare yourself with a person half your age.
And no Age is not everything.
There are young people that our old and stale and old people that are full of energy.
It depends on your attitude.
Several of those exercises you mentioned I don't even know what they are .. it sounds quite a strenuous workout.
There are far more healthy yet docile ways to exercise and keep fit ..
there is no need to sweat be out of breath and feel crucified.
Just saying . (wink )

I am laughing quite hard right now. This piece was really just a light-hearted play on what we sometimes meet in life. I am quite amazed at the athleticism of people today. I watched a young girl on youtube performing tremendous feats of gymnastic superiority. The training available to these young doers is awesome. Today I increased my repetitions of each set by 50%. Felt good. I will enjoy a chocolate chip cookie this evening. LOL Thanks for reading.

A chocolate chip ??
Is that some thick chocolate drink that you scoop up with a teaspoon?
-
That`s called Nutella. My jar always sits within reach. Ha.

Hello, Kaiku,
How incredibly relatable as I pack my bag this morning to go to a Zumba Aerobics class! Almost 70. Two knee replacements, but I move pretty darn well - in the pool ... after a small dose of Motrin! :)
Your offering flows very well. And although it is serious, it is also humorous.
I would however, split the first paragraph, with the sentence beginning:
"There are two exercises that I muddle through..."
Thank you for sharing!
Keep moving!
