This is great commentary on the food of Albufeira and would make a great travel article. What I like about your writing is its conversational tone, giving it a air of authenticity without one of food snobbery, which so often happens when one wants to learn about cuisine, any cuisine. A nice read.

I appreciate your review. I need to be more careful of my spelling as I found a couple words that `soured` me in my re-read. Thank you again for the stars.

This essay, The Door to Gastronomy, is a fair look at the culinary availabilities at this place. I guess the sardines and wine are not recommended. .........................

I enjoyed your gastronomic door.

My father loved Pistacchio.

Il homemade gelato here in Italy is famous.

I don?t like ice cream never eat it but I go crazy for yoghurt especially the one produced by the firm : Yomo

My favourite flavours are banana and agrumi di Sicilia .. maybe you can buy it in Portogallo too. Just to try it. It s thick and creamy.

Down south they love also la cassata ice cream which has pieces of fruit, jellies and some even nuts in it.

So how do you make your hamburger? Do you cook it in a non stick pan or on a small bbq device.

Sangria I have drunk in Spain but sardines I find too salty .

I ate loads of king prawns when I was in Spain dipped into cocktail sauce. The pinkish one ð???

How about Seafood Paella?

love saffron used to make risotto alla milanese my favourite.

English breakfast seems like a lunch or dinner to me .. if I ate so much so early I wouldn?t be able to walk.

That said I like eggs practically in any shape or form? no bacon to salty .
Mushroom I only eat in my risotto ai funghi

The meat carved off a stainless steel skewer sounds a lot like Oopppss can t think of the name

..anyways it was served with white rice and you had a variety of sauce to choose from but I kept my rice plain.

Love rice with brown gravy or just a bunch of butter. Still, hard to bear Gelato in a waffle cone. Thanks for the thorough review. You made me hungry.

Thanks for the gastronomical tourist review ! It sounds like a lot of food at that Brazilian restaurant, not for people with heart problems or vegans. Your final poem seems to reiterate that the sardines did not digest well during a bumpy boat ride. Oh dear.

You certainly make the food in Albufeira sound scrumptious. I've traveled a lot in my younger days and had some wonderful dining experiences, but I have never been to Portugal. I sounds as if I've missed out. Thanks for enlightening us on the culinary delights. (The BBQ sardines sounds terrible though. I don't even like the hairy little things plain!)

Kailua, you're not being fair. I'm reading about all this mouth watering good at 7am.

First, I love gelato. Best ones I had were from this tiny shop in South Beach, Florida.

Everything the way you've described it sound delicious.

You've made me hungry.

Cheers to good plates of food.
John

Interesting. Well written and interesting.
Except for 2nd breakfast made famous by J.R.R. Tolkien, I don't think Great Britain is a food destination. And even then, it's mostly limited to fresh bread (and creamy butter).
Best wishes.

You are right and I hope I didn`t give that impression. The area is full of Brits and the English Breakfast caters to their likes. J.R.R. Tolkien, a favorite of mine. Thank you for the review.

"The Door of Gastronomy" is an enthusiastic dive into the world of food, with some local descriptive details added to the menu. This appetite-stimulating read has a few missteps in its prose and development, but it's gotten me hungry despite the fact that I'm writing because I couldn't sleep; it's 6 a.m. and my thoughts should be of leaping sheep and not of broiled, baked, or boiled delights. I'm gonna abreviate this to hunt down something crunchy.

I will look for those missteps. I am no scholar at writing so your input is appreciated. Thanks for the time in reviewing and the stars.

It sounds like you are enjoying some a European food here. I am vegetarian and love salads avocado, fish and pulses, I don't suppose any of that interests you, but meat and potatoes are completely off my menu! Ha ha ha, glad you are enjoying Portugal, are going to venture into Spain? love Dolly x
