Very well done!
I love the flow of this stanza:
This brown reinita sings of all
the sounds that salsa missed:
the echo of a flower world,
a distant, pounding waterfall,
green darkness just below
the lushest ferns.
Very professional, Master Poet!

The painting is beautiful and I am delighted to learn about this beautiful little bird. "The echo of a flower world" is a wonderful line that makes nature come alive. This is the perfect poem for this time of year, the reader can travel to a warm climate and feel nature all around.

Thank you for such a generous review. I do have a tendency to live in a warmer place mentally in spite of the snow season outdoors.

Hello to you,
I am not a fan of free verse and so you must note that my rating is despite my prejudice.
This is an excellent piece of writing. The style fits the imagery and your word choice is so well-considered (tendrils / pliant/ slender). Powerful, evocative stuff ('green darkness' - simply and exact).
Some great phasing too: "until the night has washed out with the tide.." / "the sounds that salsa missed", the second of which I found fresh and inventive - all in all not a wasted word.
I am pleased to have come across this piece; it was a pleasure to read and I wish you well with your continued writing.
cheers

A delightful evocation of the birds and their song, with the sound of frogs in the background. The poem conjures up a warm image of Caribbean
culture and music.

This free verse, Little Caribbean Queen, has the proper formatting and flits about focuses on this cheery bird that lives in Central America and brightens up mornings.

The Caribbean does bring many tourists and pleasures. They had disaster there recently where the destruction of hurricanes invaded the territory. When I was reading your poem, I wondered if the birds survived the terrible storms. Wonderful poetry. Like the style.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. Those hurricanes are destructive nearly every year, but luckily I have never been in one.

Your poem and art choice paired perfectly, CC. I enjoyed
reading your well thought out free verse. Your word choices
worked well. They were filled with great imagery of the
wonderful place you visited. All of this was new to me. I learned
so much in a pleasant way. Your notes added another layer of
info. How awesome it would have been to have the little bird
on your finger.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you for sharing about to this exotic bird. I especially liked "world unstroked by human hands" and how you invoke the sights, textures, and sounds of that beautiful place. I think I know about those frogs and in Hawaii they are a nuisance as they are an invasive species.

Sounds like a tropical heaven. Where I live, we have seaguls, Carolina Wrens, chickadees and the vast assortment of backyard birds. But even though they are commonplace, I never take their melodies for granted. Great poem. I felt like I was a mini guided tour of the island. Great job and thank you for posting. Gretchen
