Yeah, those old friendships, the ones that stand the test of time no matter the distance between you's... they are worth their weight in gold and then some Jesse.
We just had my wife's cousin and his family visit us here in NZ from Holland. I haven't seen him and his wife for 20 years. It was like we had never been apart, his kids and mine had never met(born in the same time period, ours in NZ there's in Holland) but all got on like a house on fire. I was delightful and so much fun : )) Nice!

Physical contact is a necessity in our lives, yes, I would agree. I do not face life alone but have many friends and caregivers who work beside me nearly every day to find the joy you say is lost in our lives.
