I hope this is just part of a greater story. I was left wanting more. How do Jim and Odin's lives progress as they age together? How does their bond continue to develop? An expertly written piece of prose.

Thank you. It seems that I am now forced to continue the adventures of Jim and his dog, Odin.

Nomi, this is a good story about Odin. I do like the name you gave him. It creates a vision of strength which no doubt this dog has. We had cats because my wife was a cat person. They never seemed too worried about storms, but I have heard from friends with dogs that this was common. Good work. Terry.

I enjoyed this -- and yes, dogs are often frightened in thunderstorms.
"...All thoughts of raindrops, thunder and fright inducing lightning, was totally forgotten for the moment." -- some suggestions -- first, add a hyphen to "fright-inducing".
Next, add a comma after "thunder"... And finally, the subject of your sentence is "thoughts" = plural, so it must be "...(were) totally forgotten.
I had to laugh at your description of Odin when he had to abandon the soup bone -- I could picture it easily.
Well done.

Hey, nomi! I adored this pooch story. It seemed Odin was well cared for with his big beautiful soup bone and well-insulated dog house. I enjoyed the read. Best, JohnC

Thank you, it was a fun write. It is actually a rewrite from an earlier attempt that was not as well developed.

I enjoyed reading this post. Dogs have a sixth sense dealing with people and they make good companions. My grand dogs lay at my feet when I am sick and that is good medicine! Well done! Sarah

Odin is a great name for a large German Shepherd based on the Norse God.
We all know the recent marvel work with Thor and the avengers.
..
This was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and flowed well with No Grammar Issues.
Thanks for sharing this and have a Blessed day!

A very nice bit of fabricated imagination friend. Odin is a cool name for a big dog. I'm a firm believer that big dogs should have/ deserve to have big names which they hopefully will grow into. Very cool!

It's a cute and creative story, fiction or nonfiction. The story has a nice flow of words, making it a delightful read. I love all animal stories, and this one is especially nice.

Nice story! I wonder if Odin is always going to expect to get a soup bone whenever he hears thunder from now on. This was simple and sweet and very well-written. I loved the picture of that beautiful puppy too.

Thank you. I am sorry now that it is only a fictional account. I may have to go out now and find myself an Odin to adopt.

I love dog tales and I am glad this one has a happy ending. Odin finishes his bone. Excellent use of words to create vivid imagery and I am glad the dog was not struck by lightening. The photo you chose fits the story perfectly.
