Very well written... the switch from dream to reality is so sudden and like a mirror- it breaks and breaks into a million pieces which cannot be put together again. From doves to war... an absolutely perfect reflection of two opposites.

Intriguing! I can easily see this poem being rewritten as the opening chapter of a novel. Is the Speaker male or female? Will she/he experience the tragedies of war or somehow become a hero. Present day, the past, or in the future?

This is a very nice 5-7-5 poem. Your syllables counts are spot on. I do wonder why this shows up as General fiction prose, instead of poetry. I hope that doesn't disqualify it. If you want, and I would suggest this. Ask Tom to change the category to poetry. Just to be on the safe side.

This framework is generic and can be retooled for prose or poetry challenges. If the genre was a weighted evaluation, everyone will have the same problem.
