Brava for feeding the birds so faithfully. What an unexpected treat (I believe you) that they protest when you are slow to provide their food. The protest is a big thank you to you. Glad you are appreciated. I believe in your second to last sentence, it should read I love every one of them. Check into that.

This is what happens when we humans upset the balance of nature. Once you start something they expect it to continue. It is a trade really. 'You want to se us and we need to eat.' The scientists call it symbiosis. The birds call it happy hour.

Love that. They make me happy, too. Since we humans have taken up so much of their natural habitat, it's harder for them to find food. Same for some other little critters.

My granddaughter (my resident bird feeder) and I sat here and enjoyed your story with lots of laughs. Great job of writing with humor and appreciation for your bratty birds.

This would have been a great entry for the True Story contest. Yes, they do seem yo be mounting a silent protest when you are later, or the service is not up to their expected standard! Lol. Wonderful short story.

Thank you. I was surprised when they started peeking in the door. Next thing, they'll be knocking. hahaha

LOL. Me too. i have had to make a different arrangement with mine because of the squirrels and now the deer. I still have the usual backyard birds but I bought corn for the deer, the squirrels got voted out. I love your post. Nothing like nature. Rare film.

Thank you for this wonderful review! I don't get any deer in town, but I get squirrels. They all share the feeders, thank goodness.

I believe it. My sister has a cardinal couple and some deer who come to her door every day. They will wait and come right to her door. It sounds like you are an avian hero of sorts. I know you have to love it. Gretchen

I do! But I was surprised by them peeking in the door. Next thing, I guess they'll be knocking. hahaha

Very nice story. Very well written. Good work.
I see about the same thing at out bird feeder.
Their pecking order is fascinating to watch, but infuriating as the bullies chase away the smaller birds.
Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing this cute story and of course, thank you for feeding those birds. Of course, I know you have that special magnetism that draws animals and birds to you so I hope you'll be free of back pain so your bird friends won't miss a meal!!

I will certainly keep them fed if I have to crawl. I was surprised at them peeking in the door, and I guess they'll soon be knocking. hahahaha

With those beaks, they can knock!!

Yvonne, I KNOW this to be fact -- birds can recognize faces AND of COURSE look for you -- in my case they FOUND me in an APARTMENT BUILDING.

I am still heartbroken about no longer being allowed to feed mine. (The new owners' rules.)

I LOVE this story ('though it makes me sad...)

I can't see the harm in throwing it on the ground. Understandably, they can be messy, but they're worth it. I'm so sorry you have to miss seeing them come around. Thanks for a great review!

Thanks -- yep. It's cleaner, but I sure miss my bird friends. Have you seen my videos? Or the stories about the starling we rescued? I'll have to send you a link for my YouTube channel, and of course, the stories are here somewhere... (my portfolio is pretty full -- hahaha)

I watch all your videos, but I'm not seen the starling one. I had an awesome experience with a mockingbird once. I'll email it to you. True story.

They're on my YouTube channel -- I will email you too -- I can't wait for the mockingbird story!

Yay! I sent two to your page on FB in case you didn't get to my YouTube channel. :)) I'm glad you liked them.

Not hard to believe at all! They instinctively know that there is food in that location and that some human lady is going to get out there and accommodate them on a regular basis. The animal kingdom is, frankly, amazing.

Thanks for sharing your story, and for feeding our feathered friends.
