Hi Melissa,
This poem gives us good advise. Watch out for people who you know are deceitful and try to discern the truthfulness of those about which you are not sure.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.

I liked your 5 line poem. It means so much. You watch what they do - I look into their eyes. Of course the eyes are the mirror of the soul. They're sly, cunning and speak with forked tongue. They belong to the Lord of
Darkness. Legions of the damned. K xx

This five-line poem, Behind the Words, has the proper formatting and reminds the readers that people don't always practice what they preach, or do as they say.

This is a very good entry for the 5 line poem contest.
All syllables are in check to relay a message of how some people are not what they seem or should be. A wise thing to hang back and observe the scene of character first. Great picture too.

I completely agree. It reminds me of something my brother-in-law says: "You just hide and watch!" You can't always believe words, but actions never lie. Thank you for sharing this here, and best wishes to you.

This is perfection in every way --the presentation, the words, the advice, the LESSON, and, above all, the way you have woven them into a gorgeous and memorable mere five lines of haunting poetic aptitude. Every time you post, it is VERY special, Melissa. I always feel happy whenever I see the words "New Writing Online" in my inbox across from your name.
Good luck in the contest with this beauty.

This is fantastic and I love the image you used! This short 5 line poem speaks so much truth. People can say things, kind and lovely or make so many glowing promises about in the end their action, particularly when no one seems to be watching tell everything about character. This is so very insightful!

Ah, those people behind the masks - I watch what they do too, and stay away from them as best I can.
Nicely said in just 5 lines - nice presentation with the image and the scratchy cursive font - seems to fit the theme of dishonesty.
Good luck in the contest.
