Comment from Gloria ....
This is a fine contribution to the haiku club, Joan. The photograph looks very cozy and of course a good book and something warm to drink always enhances the moment.
Much enjoyed.

As the father of a daughter who is a poet, accomplished writer and has an Masters in Literature who read over 150 books last year, I can relate to this being true. She too prepares hot cocoa (sometimes opens a good bottle of wine) and retreats with her dog to escape the pressures of the world by immersing herself into a good book.
Good job describing this cozy comfort.

-Nice image, Joan.
-The syllable count is good, along with the topic.
-Effective imagery with "a good book and cocoa."
-A good satori line with alliteration and
a positive message about the world being better.
-You also create a calm and peaceful mood.
-Well done.

Cozy, indeed, Joan...
A fine winter haiku, and one whose message resonates with me as I sit by a laughing fire as I read and review - all the while sipping on tea!
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the review, Diane. I appreciate it.
I go to the library every Sunday to write. In the winter there is a fire in their gas fireplace near the back of the library surrounded by seats where I choose to write.

The author's words are inviting, descriptive and comforting. I liked the
second line as I thought about a warm fire, a good book and cocoa as the
author states. The poem flows and connects well. I found the artwork perfect as it compliments both the words and theme of this poem.

Great words here and I truly agree. So many problems fade when snuggled up with a book like a good friend and liquid sweet warm chocolate! A well crafted Haiku that satisfies!

Oh I love the image in your words. Nothing more comforting that cocoa and a good book to make one feel cozy and feel better. Excellent little poem that reminds the reader what to do when feeling bad. Excellent use of words.

As I read your sensitive and heartfelt haiku, I want to make a cup of hot cocoa (maybe marshmallows too). I think I will do just that! Thanks for the inspiration.

An excellent job with this poem for the "Humanity Winter Haiku" event in the Haiku Club, Joan. The picture compliments the poem very well indeed.
I like all the p's in your first line, "problems disappear". Also the strong "k" sounds with "book and cocoa". And there's good alliteration, as well, with "world's warmth". Sometimes, "all you need is love", but other times, all you need is "a good book and cocoa"!
Nicely penned for a cold winter day.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thanks, MariVal, for the review. I will remove the word hot because cocoa is understood to be hot.
