The great thing about this poem is that it applies to both human moods and the storms of nature's moods. The "bruises" do hint at the damage that some violent tempers inflict.
Congratulations on the win!!!

I feel the anger in the storm you creatively painted a picture of the moment, I felt one with the poem. A feeling that makes poetry real. A picture that adds to your words. Together they create a wonderful presentation.

Ciao mystery poet, I gave you your 7 th vote.

There are several poems about the clime but yours definitely stood out :

Purple bruises darken
Another beating

That s what I call CREATIVE writing.

Ciao!

Your edit version is okay but personally: another beating

    packed a stronger punch 😕

reply by tempeste on 24-Jan-2023
I was a bit disappointed you edited but I m still glad your poem is doing well.

    All the best😐

Thank you. I was a bit unsure whether the first two lines flowed well enough, and whether it was sufficiently about nature in the third. Now you?ve made me unsure again. My insecurities are coming out now!

I?m sorry .. it was not my intention to cause you stress ..

I loved the first version , the purple bruise and another beating connected so well and it is creative and unique

your second version is still a worthy edit, thought . 😝

This is a wonderfully expressed metaphor on nature and human nature. I found it very poignant and very creative indeed. Great work. And good luck with the contest.

Nice entry for the 5-7-5 Nature writing prompt contest. Good syllables count but connection between lines can be improved.

I love the imagery and presentation.

Good luck in the contest.

Storms can look like a bruised cloud. Nature in summer can be unpredictable. Either it is raining, sunshine, windy, stormy, or just plain hot (you could fry an egg). If the air is steamy the storms are brewing. Like your comparison to the weather.

EXCELLENT metaphors that provoke such dark imagery of both types of "beatings"****** (did you count them?). Wonderful & magnificent- literarily speaking, of course! You have my vote!

Well done mystery writer. The metaphor is excellent... angry, bruises, beating. Even the title was well thought out. The photo was also a wise choice. Loved every bit of it. Congrats
