A beautiful Haiku Val. Excellent artwork and presentation to compliment your poem.
The first two lines are grammatically connected beautifully and the satori line is priceless.
So happy I found you today and hope you are doing well. You certainly haven't lost your talent for JSF. Wish I had a six left.
Blessings

OMG, Janet, so good to hear from you. I hope your doing wonderfully. I remember all you wonderful writings, when we together on the book. I love your review, and yes JSF is my passion. I will "fan" you. What are you writing now?
-
I was hoping you would remember me Val. I don?t post very often these days. I still love JSF but life does have a way of sidetracking us. My husband and are teaching a Bible study that we are developing as we go along and it is really time consuming but also very rewarding.
I did just finish a poem that?s been ruminating in my head for awhile. I think I?ll title it ?Smile? but it?s kind of somber as I?m working through some family ?stuff?. I may post it this weekend.
So happy I found your haiku and I will fan you so that I don?t miss any of your poems. 🙂

Janet, of course, I remember you. I don't post as often any more either, as I seem to run in spurts. I hope your "family stuff" is resolving itself. Family can be a real challenge at time. Good luck Val

The bird of paradise plant is very beautiful when it burns. We have many of them here in the desert. I wish you the very best and all that you've written. Patricia.

Poetry is something I know very little about. I like to read well-written, beautiful poetry, and this is definitely beautiful. It should do well in the contest. I wish you the best of luck.

Lines one and three have five syllables. In line two I only count six. I enjoyed reading this Haiku. I like the Bird of Paradise flower, and it does sound like a bird but it never takes wing. Have a blessed day.

Thank you for the review. haiku is no longer held to a 5/7/5 syllable count. I must be 17 syllables or under, and should read short/long/short, and American haiku is all over the placer. I am more of traditionalist

The first two lines flow and connect well. The last line puts the poem all
together. I pondered on the last line. Thank you for the author's notes. The artwork and color scheme are awesome - they compliment this poem!

You've provided us readers with an excellent haiku. Thank you for the description in your notes.
The words flowed softly and made me yearn for the warmth and sounds of summer.
Great photo which when I look closely is only of the flower, correct? It resembles a bird at a glance.
Great post!

John, this might be one of the best reviews I have ever received
Yes, Birds of Paradise flourish in Southern California where I live. I've often felt sorry for their lack of flight ability. LOL

Tenerife - isn't that an island in Spain? Love Spain. We have many in Southern California, also. Thank you for the lovely review.

Tenerife is one of the Canary islands, there are seven islands in total off the coast of Africa, yes it is Spanish, love Dolly x

This poem is lovely. I am glad you made the note about the syllable count - I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing this poem, and best wishes to you.

Thank you so much for this lovely review. Yes, there all kinds of versions on the haiku. I am actually more of a traditionalist than most on this site. Hugs
