Well, I am certainly proud. I LOVE being able to say, "I know that woman! She even likes me and everything!" I think you are remarkable beyond words, and nothing makes my day happier than when we get schmooze time on the phone. You are a fine example for us ALL, Sandy-- the embodiment of the adage: When the going gets tough, the tough keep going. Nobody I've ever known in my entire life --NO hyperbole-- has more stamina or willpower than you. There's not even any close seconds. xoxoxox
PS I just LOVE that omniscient expression you're giving the camera here!!

Sandra, your addressing the challenges you have overcome to attain your obvious successful journey can be read with a sense of great respect for your formidable "can-do, will-do character.
Your parents, much like mine, did not have the institutional education, but I am certain your folks did have a PhD in life and that they shared these values that you studied and applied throughout your life.
Kudo's dear Lady!

Thank you for your supportive review. My parents were bitter and the lessons they taught me were wrapped in rancor. They gave me life but little if any love. They were incapable of imparting tenderness.

I get the sense that the things you accomplished didn't go the way "they" planned...and they did not know how to embrace or acknowledge your perseverance and success...
That, Sandra, says much more about them than it does about you.
Still, I understand the hunger to be acknowledged. I experienced much the same, being the first in my family to graduate college.
You've done so much more than survive.
You've triumphed!
(Oh I wish I had a six for this!)

Thank you for your supportive and sweet review. Yes, I too was the first and only one in my immediate family to do so. My parents were bitter and the lessons they taught me were wrapped in rancor. They gave me life but little if any love. They were incapable of imparting tenderness.

And yet from bitter soil, you blossomed and grew!

Thank you!

Congratulations for "never underestimating a born warrior." You overcame tremendous odds and proved you could do it. We are all proud of you here even if your family members were afraid to say so!

It wasn't fear that stopped them saying so. It was envy. Thank you for your supportive review.

That's too bad. Envy rots the bones according to Proverbs...

Amen...Proverbs is correct.

Congratulations to you for overcoming all you did and not just surviving but thriving.
I really enjoyed your variation on the Acrostic poem, using the first word of each line to create a sentence, rather than the first letter to create a word. Doing that made for a very powerful, moving and uplifting poem.
