Yes, that would be one thing to teach kindergarten kids. But I think they'd rather see the pictures. But then again, older kids would probably enjoy learning the meanings of the longer words.

This poem, Long Things, is a neat assortment of examples of - gee - long things. I know it doesn't matter here, but I bet if you gave it some thought, you could find a rhyme to make this hit one tone higher. I'm not pushing rhyme; or am I?

You may not know what to do with your varied collection of 'long' objects, but yes they would certainly be attractive to infants, particularly that yellow ribbon. I would have also liked to see a list of 'shorts' as a comparison in this poem. kay

Thanks for your review. Maybe I'll write about short objects another day. x

I love this quirky poem. The first stanza is romanticized language and vivid images that are eclectic. The second stanza is so plain it's almost prose. It takes a tongue in cheek shot at itself, which I found funny. It makes good use of upset expectations to be humorous.

Hello Heather, I hope you've
had a lovely Sunday. This
poem is witty, and I'm wondering if you're talking
about poems that go on and
on with no substance? That's
what I'm thinking. Sounds like
some of my epic poems, lol!
Many blessings!

I wasn't really thinking of poems that go on and on, just about the shape of the lines.

Hi Maria Jose, yes maybe you can teach children what long means. Well, not even adults know the answer to this. After all, how long is a piece of string?
Loved it. Ulla:)))

Heather,
This maybe a silly poem but it has a creative lesson woven within its lines. You must be a teacher. It reads as a special example of a teacher's lesson plan designed to help students learn how to write poetry.
All the best,
Eugene

This was so utterly adorable, Heather. The picture was rather delightful. Your words showed the profound truth about which you wrote. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessings and hugs!

I don't know if I had a concept of something long and drawn out when I was young, but the innocent may be different today Maria, but this poem is certainly well written, and designed with great language, well done, blessings Roy

You have me smiling with all of the color and individual 'long' things that inhabit your poem. I liked the imaginative and energetic aspects you included. Well done, my friend!!
