Wonderful advice to all! And it even applies here because people are often judgmental of others' styles of writing. But we don't know the stories behind the writing. They are real people just like the real people that you mentioned. So glad that you taught your children compassion! Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks Helen!,,., l did indeed teach them that as I have always feet bad for the underdog . Something else you and I share. Thanks for your lovely reviews and such kind words, even the song meter is off in some places I wise keep plucking away at win

the shame is...that there are people who
can't see beyond other peoples flaws...disabilities...
to look inside their hearts...where it counts...
their so vain...
they'll be a day...time will put them in the places
of the people they hurt...
always be kind to others...for one day you will be the
ones who will be there for you...my father always said that...

Your poem contains so much truth. When we see crippled, sick, or old people, we need to remember one thing--"But for the grace of God, that could be us." Your poem is lovely and nicely written. Best of luck in the contest.

Very poignant poem. I have to admit that when I see so-called "street people", I tend to look away out of MY embarrassment, not realizing that THEY might be more embarrassed than me. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful reminder to not judge others. BTW, love that image of the pair of eyes on a beautiful butterfly. Good luck in the contest!

Good call to empathy, and action. The responses being in couplets works well to draw attention to them. The rhyme is constant. It works well for the theme of unseen beauty, as often people judge based on our worst moments and don't stick around long enough to see the beautiful moments.

I agree, Mystery Author. Everyone has a story to share.
However, not all will take the time to listen because they've
made assumptions about the individual and pass on the
chance to see their inner beauty. You did a great job with
your contest entry. Your words were well-thought out, the
rhymes worked fine, and your details of the beauty found in
the examples was superb. I liked how you used 'real' people
to make your excellent point--the theme of the contest.
Your color scheme and image worked well together. The image
was beautiful. Your poem pointed out that true beauty is in
all of us, in nature, as God made it all. I'm sure it pleases Him
when people look beyond issues and 'things' that others only
look at and judge.

This is six star worthy for sure. Your message is sounded loud and clear from the start till its conclusion. All the examples I'm sure happen daily. People blurt things out before they think of what they're saying and how it can hurt the person.
