I loved reading this. I too am a sucker for chocolate. Your descriptive words made my mouth water. Perfect in imagery.
As for being decadent, I truly am when it comes to chocolate.

I am with you all the way here Tom as chocolate is a favourite treat for me too and I always have it in my refrigerator and eat it regularly. We have Cadbury's chocolate in the UK and they have a day out at Cadbury world and I have the most amazing time and brought home bags of the stuff! My favourite chocolate is from Belgium and I have visited just to bring home chocolate! A fine free write and I am now craving chocolate for breakfast! Love Dolly x

I am with you all the way here Tom as chocolate is a favourite treat for me too and I always have it in my refrigerator and eat it regularly. We have Cadbury's chocolate in the UK and they have a day out at Cadbury world and I have the most amazing time and brought home bags of the stuff! My favourite chocolate is from Belgium and I have visited just to bring home chocolate! A fine free write and I am now craving chocolate for breakfast! Love Dolly x

Very appealing poem in tribute to chocolate. I never used to go for chocolate much, but the older I get the more I enjoy it. Must keep it for a special treat though! Well done, thanks for sharing. Should have gone in the "Temptations" contest!

Their favourite starter for the festive meal is oysters and other shellfish, but their favourite food remains best quality chocalate. So for between meal treats they sell seafood-shaped chocolates, drizzled over with white chocalate to represent the sauce. Imagine. kay

This is a great poem which I could identify with all the way through. Also, in reading your bio, where you say you're a patriot who cries at the playing of our anthem, reminded me of Toby Keith's song Happy Birthday America - which does the same to me. Have you heard it?

Oh, I don't know. My daughter is the big country fan and she got me listening, and I like some of it. That song, though, really got me.

Oh, Tom, you took me there. The background color of chocolate drove it all home. The references to texture are brilliant - smooth, lumped, nutty. I don't see a lot of writing that captures taste or texture, so this was a delight and I am heading for some chocolate right now.

A wonderful ode to chocolate. The flow is good. The images are clear. The richness of chocolate flows through it. The presentation is superb.
The only suggestion is that at the end you might find another cliche to use. The thought of chocolate-covered oysters is disturbing and sets my teeth on end.

A wonderful ode to chocolate. The flow is good. The images are clear. The richness of chocolate flows through it. The presentation is superb.
