This is so rhythmical. I can almost hear the melody to accompany this. I can almost hear the Beatle's Liverpool sound in this. I think we're from around the same era. I'm an Aussie '48 model.
In my mind, I think I can distinguish perhaps a McCartney influence in the lyric. Really great.

Your grandmother sounded like she knew how to have a good time. It was probably very theraputic to her as well. I liked this children's poem mainly because it encouraged them to be silly. To enjoy the sound of their own voice and to break free of the structure of life. Great job on this. Gretchen

This poem comments on the fun of silly made up stuff, and then delivers silly made up stuff. I see it's for the children's poetry contest. I have two young children, and they do enjoy making up their own nonsense words to sing and chant. The rhyme and meter were good. Nice entry!

Nicely done.

That was very creative, catchy and rhymed well. And the latter with words you don't often see.

You captured a melodic cadence which was nice.

    My pleasure, Stu.

    I fully understand.

I write some stories or poems just to amuse myself...My first piece here is one of them.

I think your grandmother was brilliant! Silly songs are a staple in my house...more "Jabberwocky" with a made-up melody than anything we could sing out more than once in the same way! This gave my kids (and now grandkids) the freedom to create and soar on the joy of music! I'd love to see this read to a circle of children ~ and then have them rise in unison each warbling as their hearts inspire!

Great poem. Nicely done. This is a cute poem, and I like that it gives kids the ok to sing any words they choose. Your poem gives excellent advice or children and adults too. Your poem is a sweet poem that is backed by a sweet idea. Your poem made me smile when I read it with the use of all its silly words. This is a wonderful children's poem, and I enjoyed reading it. Well written with your flow of words, and rhyming pattern. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Stu,
This is a cute poem which gives kids the okay to sing any words they choose and know they are making good music. I like the bit of fantasy and religion in this poem.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

I think your poem offers excellent advice for children and adults alike. I will occasionally sing a tune made up on the spot, which always causes those around me to laugh:-)

A terrific rhyming poem, and I love that your grandmother did this with you.

Good luck in the contest.

Nice children's poem. I was going to criticize your meter, but it fits right in with the craziness of your poem. it will be interesting to see how you do in the contest.

That's a fun song to spark the imagination of children, especially those who are blessed with parents who read them about Elven Kings and sing with them. Best wishes in the contest!
