Cindi, you are so kind. I truly would like to: clone him, but fear I'd be selfish and keep every one of them for myself. Thanks again, my dear friend. for sweetest and kindest comments ever.

Anne, you are so sweet. And yes, I agree I am very blessed with all my grandchildren, but our goobs is different. I knew when he was three years old that he would be the creative one. Altho, my oldest granddaughter is an artist and I use her art frequently. Isn't it amazing that they each have their own thing. I thank you so very much for always having nice things to say and being so thoughtful in your reviews. Your kind words are always so appreciated.

What an amazing young man! How thoughtful that he would do the dishes and clean up while you rested. Thanks for sharing about your wonderful visit and his gifts to you. It shows how much love you poured into him!

Thank you Helen for your lovely comments for my sweet goobs. It maybe sounds weird to others but it feels weird to call him Carter, yet it is mostly just family that still call him that. His mother describes him as a young boy with an old soul. They partly gave him the silly nickname, because around here at times it was frowned on by his dad and grandpa for a boy who would rather be finding pictures in the clouds and making up Dr Seuss type rhymes with grandma instead of hunting and fishing. He has such a wonderful creative side and I have warned both men, that it isn't right to stop a gift that was surely given by God. Thanks again sweet friend for your nice words for my grandson.

I'm so glad you are promoting his God-given gifts. Of course, this means he resembles his grandma! 💖

What a beautiful gift from your grandson! The author's words were heartfelt and filled with loving words. The author's title of this poem
is the best! This was a gift from the heart from your grandson! The artwork is awesome and compliments these words.

It sounds like your grandson is, in fact, sweet and charming. He reminds me of our minions (my sister's children), which is a great thing. Thank you for sharing this sweet story here, and best wishes to you.

My Granddaughter is the one more likely to take up and treasure my writing when I'm on that eternal journey, she's the arty one, a great little writer herself, not poetry yet, but most imaginative with her short fiction, and a most adept dancer/singer, beautiful written, a chip off the old block is Carter, (Goober was what our young daughters called Elaine and I, affectionately of course. Well done, blessings Roy

I can't imagine you being called that. Our son nicknamed Carter that when he was four years old, because he was such a goofball and I don't know if you had ever gotten any old American shows there, but There was a show called the Andy Griffith Show, and it had a gas station attendant that was more of a whiz with cars, but awkward with everything else. Carter is not that way, but ever since he was little, he would love to come here and find pictures in the clouds and even faces in the trees.
Anyway, I thank you so much for your very kind comments and for the gift of the six gracious stars. I appreciate both so very much. Along with your little story about the girls calling their mom and dad. That's fun!

Thanks Dolly, but Valentine's Day hasn't even come yet, and I will be spending it with my husband. Yesterday was my day with Carter and he just had wanted to do some very thoughtful things for me. So I wrote it in my poem, since he and I are so very close and he is so kind and considerate of mine and everyone's feelings. It is something that as kind as I try to be to everyone, I will not tolerate my children or grandchildren to be disrespectful to anyone.
I am not sure if there is anyone else in your life now, since your husband has passed on, but you are such a beautiful woman, that I hope you have someone you will be sharing it with. I think of how hard that it had to have been to lose him and it makes me thankful that my husband has always been so healthy, but I always keep in mind that one day one of us will be without, so I always thank God for him and ask for Him to let me bless him everyday that we are together. I hope that you have found happiness again. As I think of you and other widowed friends so often. God Bless you, my lovely friend.

Let's hear it for the youth of today that so I often get a bad rap! Carter is the perfect example that not all kids have their "self-entitled" face glued to an smartphone.

He didn't learn this wonderful behavior in a background... You and your husband planted the seeds which bloomed in your own children--and what a delight to find out in the next generation that love is perrenial!

A feel good poem, well penned, that warms my heart!

Hey Sweetie. I can't thank you enough for the very kind review. He is a keeper all right and I love all the other's the same, but this boy is so jealous if anyone else is here and I give my attention to them. He knows he and I have the most in common and he loves that. He is only 12 so I am sure he will outgrow it. Lol!!! Thanks again for your kind review my sweet friend.
reply by karenina on 12-Feb-2023
Maybe he won't outgrow it. My Matthew is thirteen and as loveable a boy as any that I could possibly imagine. I think it's sweet you wrote a Valentine's poem for your "special boy!"

Allow me to first off say a heartfelt thank you to the site admins. I got the notification of your post through the fan notification system.
I love this poem. I love the relationship between you and your grandson.
My grandmother and I had our first conversation when I was 28 years old. she and I were shocked at how much we had in common. We both love and write poetry. Her favorite poet was Paul Laurence Dunbar, mine also. We also shared a big similarity in our writing styles. (BOOM!) Mind blown.

I am so happy to hear you got the notification. It is too bad that after the contests are over that they don't let the fans know. So I haven't gotten any from you yet, so I hope that I am not missing them. Are you still writing your book or is it done now?
So I thank you so kindly dear Nomi, for your wonderful review, for your kind words and the gracious six stars. It means a lot to me, dear friend.
I loved your story about you and your mom. God sometimes has a different plan for us, and it may have been after you reached adulthood, but oh what a reward and gift that was for you and her. I am picturing it and how it must have looked and sounded. I can only imagine how that felt to find out that you both had the same favorite poet. I do have to say, that I too admire Dunbar's work. My mother was also a poetess and taught her kids a lot about writing. I learned my love for poetry in third grade, when I read Joyce Kilmer's Trees. After that, Trees was always my favorite poem and he was my favorite poet. Kind of a strange one for a little girl, I know but that is till my favorite of all time. Memories can be so sweet.
Thanks again my dear brother for the wonderful review, and memory of you and your mom. It was precious to hear about!! Thanks again!! : )

Thanks for your response. One small correction, it was my grandmother on my father's side of the family. It turns out that she did not approve of my mother as a wife for her son, so she cut off relations with my mother and me. She later came to regret her decision.
reply by the author on 12-Feb-2023
Oh I saw that, and I am not sure how I mixed that up, but thanks for pointing it out to me. And I think I had heard you say that once before.
I bet your grandma could have kicked herself for all the wasted time without you. I am glad that she did reconcile the situation and I guess better late than never.
It is hard for people like you and me to understand because we treasure our grandchildren so.
Thanks for putting on the right track. I sure am glad I can depend on my brother. Happy Valentine's Day my Sweets! ❤️
