Debi,

What a marvelous poem which was a combination of your writing and Carter's. That makes all the more special!

Grandchildren are great, for sure!

Nicely done.

Cheers to our grandkids!
John

Hi John, and thank you for such a lovely review and words for my grandson's poem and his unselfish acts for me. He is an amazing boy, but then all of my grandkids are great. He just shares more interests with me.
Thanks again and a very Happy Valentine's Day to you!

This is the perfect grandson. Thank you for sharing Carter with us. One of my sons was similar. I used to say which ever young lady got him, she would have a special husband. I was right. LOL Please I honestly can't say that about all of my boys. One of them was a wild child. He did grow out of it and became a good husband and father. I spend his teenage years on my knees in prayer. I really enjoyed reading and gave a special prayer for this child.

Hi Barb, and thank you for such a lovely review and words for my grandson's poem and his unselfish acts for me. He is an amazing boy, but then all of my grandkids are great. He just shares more interests with me. However, they live next door and because we do so much together, when the others are around, I think he gets a little jealous, because he becomes quiet and just wants to go home. And of course we have to give that precious time to all of them. I always think of your one son being a lot like my son Jason. I already know that you are one heck of a good mom and grandma. Isn't family the most wonderful blessing ever. That is why it is also so great thinking of so many of you as second family. We probably spend more time together than we do from our other life, you know? For both, I am so blessed. Thanks for being one of those blessings, my very dear friend.
Thanks again and a very Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Oh Debi, this poem is so loving. I can just see Goober scurrying about and tidying up the house for his sweet Grandma. Your poem read and flows well, and love exudes from every line. I especially liked:

"Happy Valentine's Day Grandma," was part of what he wrote
"I could never pay you back, but hope today can be a starter"

(This is so pure and sweet that it's bringing tears to my eyes.)

Well done; well told. A pleasure to read. This would have been a great contest entry. Xo. Your SOTU

Hi Margaret, and thank you for such a lovely review and words for my grandson's poem and his unselfish acts for me. He is an amazing boy, but then all of my grandkids are great. He just shares more interests with me. Yknow it is to the point that because he knows I am proud of him, he try's harder and wants more of me. Then when the other kids come over, he gets really quiet and wants to go home. Maybe a bit possessive, but I will take that over not being loved. You and I are so blessed with our kids and grandkids. God sure does love us, doesn't he my sweet sotu. I am so thankful for that relationship too. I barely remember when we didn't have it.
Thanks again for this lovely review, the lovely stars and the lovely you.
Thanks again and a very Happy Valentine's Day to you!

This is a beautiful poem about a grandmother/grandson relationship. The rhyming is good and I love the ideas expressed in the poem. I do feel that the meter is a bit 'choppy' in the last but one line as it seems rather long but the rest reads well.

Thanks so much Eleri. I appreciate your very kind review and words for my grandson and poem. I wanted to take a look at the line that you are talking about. Is it the very last line of the poem? It is long, but it has the same amount of syllables. I suppose just longer words. And I do know what you mean about it being a bit choppy. It is so hard when you are telling a story and need to put certain words in it to get the message across. My college professor always said to make sure that you make it as smooth as you can, but when having to use certain words, sometimes you can't stay on meter completely. If I knew tho for sure that was the one, I would like to try to change it. I think I tried so many things already, but I absolutely love good feedback and you have never steered me wrong yet. So thank you so much, my friend.

The line I was thinking of was the last but one line. However, I have been through it again and I think that it may be OK as it is. It is a bit long but only by two syllables and I can't think of anything to suggest in order to improve it without ruining the rhyme.

I would let you borrow him, my gal pal Sal, but he sometimes cons you into rubbing his back or feet. Hahaha! He does get lots of attention here. And so many foods that are named after him. He loves ketchup and gave me the idea for the short poem about the little boy on the pot pounding on his head, because he pounds on the ketchup bottom of the bottle to get the ketchup out. So we call that Carter sauce, orange pop is goober juice because he loves orange crush, and a few others. I love all of them the same but he gets a little jealous when the others are here. Its not that he is mean, just gets super quiet and pouts a little. I think he thinks I am his because he knows we have the most in common. Anyway, thank you for another lovely review and comments. You are as sweet as anyone in this world that I know and I appreciate you so very much. Thank you also for the gift of the six stars my sweet friend.

A lovely story about a 12 year old who has inherited and learned from his grandma's loving spirit. I like the exchange of service, gratitude, creativity and love.

"Best Valentine's Day Gift Ever" is a grandmother's tribute in stanzas of rhyming couplets to her loving 12-year-old grandson, who noiselessly cleans the dishes and her house while she sleeps. Ms. Marquette is a poet of the family, and once again she has celebrated an excellent moment from the book of familial love.

Aww, that was so lovely, Debi. Our grandchildren can be so cute and loving, can't they? I'm actually getting a hug from my grandson now, (he's autistic and hates to be touched) and that was the bestest gift I could ever receive. I love your poem, and I'm hoping you are going to show it to Goober, I'm sure he'll be thrilled and embarrassed at the same time!! LOL. Well done, my friend. I hope you're still improving and will be as right as rain soon. :)) Love and hugs, my friend. :))Sandra xx

Hi Sandra, I thank you so much for your kind review and comments. He is a good boy, and I am so blessed to have him. I am so thankful to have six of them with each their own talents. My granddaughter does much of my art for me and did a few of my most recent ones. And I love that you were getting a hug from your sweet boy, which says a lot about how much he loves his grandma, since I know from autistic children that they are so sensitive in so many things! No wonder we are such great friends, both awesome grandmas! Thanks again, sweet friend for your lovely comments

Debi, I am thinking that over the years you have had to adjust to a "New Best Valentine," maybe every year. You have such a large loving family and "Support Staff," that you get new best stuff all the time. Well done. Terry.

Thanks Terry. Actually I just keep them all as my Valentines all year long and I never have to keep track who's turn it is. I am pretty blessed. Goobs is the clown of all six of the kids so he gives me a lot of fun ideas. And the oldest, Kenzie does so much of my artwork. She is amazing. They all are.
Thanks for your kind comments. So appreciated my friend!

Thanks Hon! What do you mean, you cannot have grandchildren. You are so young looking. But I guess I was pretty young as a grandma in the beginning. I was in my forties. What ever you do, don't blink! It goes too fast.
Now I have two that will be twenty this Summer.
Thanks so much Joanne for your lovely review and comments, as always. I just adore you. You are so sweet!
