I can see why Bea was conflicted as she still had a lot of responsibility for Sweet Puppy. But I'm mystified as to who or what this creature is. I'm guessing you purposely didn't tell us what kind of animal it is. But it makes it hard to imagine what it is. It's rather ominous.
