What a unique piece! I enjoyed reading this. And you have my vote for it.

Edgar Allan Poe was truly a class of his own. The Raven is one of my favourite poems of all time. So absolutely beautiful and haunting.

He was plain brilliance and nothing more. :)

I admire your Ode poem, for its poetic ability and also because I too enjoy Edgar Allan Poe's work... we both can 'rave' about its appeal.

A deletion needed in this line (remove the 'the'):
my favorite, learned by heart, is the The Raven.

Great Ode to Poe. The text is a great size. The message is stated with clarity and is easily understood. I too love all the example he has written mentioned in your poem.
He was an odd, off-beat writer. He attended the University of VA but was expelled. Heavy drinking and poor class attendance were the reasons stated. His room is roped off, but it is open for public viewing. The visual is perfect. Good luck in the contest.

Ciao poet, you now have 6 votes.

I great poem about Poe.

I remember reading the story with the black cat that ended being bricked alive behind a wall with the landlord s dead wife .. which he had killed with an axe.

What a wonderful tribute to a legend of a poet. Edgar Allen Poe was mentioned in the days of old school. He was a famous name that we knew; I like your poem. Brought back lots of moments from long ago.

This was an excellent ode! I can relate to this. I wrote a paper on "The Fall of the House of Usher" when I was in college. You wrote a great poem, and I liked your rhymes. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Poe continues to fascinate readers even today. He was fun to teach, and you mention the titles I like best myself. Who doesn't love reading "The Raven" aloud? A fine tribute. Rod

I wish you hadn't included the slant rhyme raven/raving which made me cringe somewhat. Apart from that this was a a very reasonable ode to Poe stating clearly what you felt you owed.

A fine tribute to the author poet Edgar Allan Poe who retains his fame in America. He died so young and the speculation about his death continues. I enjoyed your fine tribute here as you mention his great work, love Dolly x
