What a gorgeous version of a poem. The words are so captivating. It is so tasteful to think that love does thirst in times of need.

I know that you are not speaking about God in this poem, you are speaking about an admirer. But we will only taste of God's goodness when we really thirst for him, too. We will not think much of God if we aren't thirsty for him.

You really don't waste words, aand you know how to use their economy to impart a great original meaning. People should learn from, when they write a haiku, it's still basically a 5/7/5, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I wait for a drop of love
to quench my thirst ( surely hope it's not a long wait. LOL)

Hi, Gypsy,
This is a very nice poem full of passion: the photo compliments your words very well. I would like to dance like this one time to feel free.
Excellent Tanka, Gypsy.
Blessings,
Cindy

Quenching one's thirst on a dusty deserted road-what a wonderful image, great alliteration in your second line, beautifully written and presented****kahpot

This is really lovely, Gypsy.
-Working so well in your poem is the movement you get and the dry parched feeling that brings home the feeling of desertedness.
-The change in the wind is a lovely transitional, pivot line, bringing readers to that wait or moment of expectation and exhilaration, only a love can quench.
-Very nice -d- alliteration, and metaphor for a love that sustains.
Loved it. Loved it.

This is very nice. As wind tousles our hair. Or do you prefer the focus to be on one person.

I really like the dryness of the desert thirsting for a drop of water, changed to the longing of a person, for a drop or sign of love.

We've all been there.

Well done.

I like your Tanka poem- nicely done- good picture presentation- tying desert road together with quenching your thirst- nice -dancing on a dirt road- spontaneous- I can see myself doing that! Lol pretty unpredictable sort my whole life- touches the fantasy in others more conservative- good job AP

I really liked the "drop of love to quench my thirst." The thirst is for love and the narrator is admiring the loved one and the dance is probably increasing the thirst for love.

What a magical photograph thar inspired you to write this passionate and romantic poem and I enjoyed the contrast between the desert and the drop of love to quench the thirst here, very clever, love Dolly x
