Hi John,
This is a cute poem. This shows you look at aging in a positive witty way.
The last line show that life can be tumultuous. The artwork looks like a hurricane storm surge that goes with the tornado to show how life can have its ups and downs.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Good luck in the contest
Joan

Hey, John! This landed in my inbox today and it made me chuckle. I was where you are a couple years ago. Suddenly, I didn't mind being in the "sixty something" category, but the minute I flipped that calendar page from September to October, there it was. The number nineteen circled with "70" scribbled on it...well, it does something to you. Not an earthly storm, more like a nuclear winter. Lol

This last year before you turn 70 will mean a lot to you. 70 is a milestone. It's when your kids think about differently. It's when you need to move on from "middle age". It's the magical milestone when you decide you're not old, you're just getting older. And that's all good.

I understand exactly where this poem comes from and where it takes me,

Welcome to the club, dude!

Lynda

    Thanks again Lynda.

With that nuclear winter approaching I guess I need to keep my head down. Lol

Thanks again for the sixer and for sharing your wisdom with me.

    Best

You are a youngster at 69, but it is the big 70 next year! He he he, I enjoyed your view of yourself here and as long as you are still alive anything is possible, love Dolly x

Haha, in our mind we are all youngsters still, aren't we though? Nature is cruel stamping an end-date on all living things on earth. Maybe we should just migrate to another planet. Lol

Hah! This is extraordinary! (Maybe I'm partial as I've hit this delightfully "on the cusp of seventy" number myself now)--

I struggle with "cusp" years...and have since 29, I think. (Sigh, time marches on...and over out aging bodies.)

The ONLY way to deal with these things is a bit of humor. Personally, I announced to my family that I can't "deal" with being 69... so I would play with the numbers and choose, each day to be "Six"....or "Nine" -- or (adding the two) "Fifteen."

(Yup, they rolled their eyes)

I must say I like your take on it MUCH better!

TWISTER would not be good for my arthritis...but man, it's good for my psyche!
