That was such a lovely story, and because it was true, it made for an extra special story. You and your brother lost your mother when you were so young, and left with a father too clouded with his own grief he didn't understand yours. Some dads are like that. Mrs Curry was most certainly an angel sent from God to help you, and she most certainly did. I'm glad you had her in your life. And what a lovely photo that is. I really enjoyed reading this, it was an inspired write. I hope you win the contest and wish you the very best of luck. :)) Sandra xx

This is a beautiful letter and a wonderful entry for the contest. What a wonderful neighbor Mrs. Curry was to be there for you. She probably recognized you needed a friend and I'm sure you helped her in her loneliness. You formed a special bond. She was the friend and surrogate mother you needed. She must know how special she was to you, and you to her.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. It is heartfelt. I could feel the emotion of the situation through your excellent writing. If more people had someone like Mrs. Curry in their lives, things would be different. Good luck with the contest.

You have written a wonderful tribute to your friend, Mrs. Currie. She was certainly a monumental influence on your life. Your life following your mom's passing sounds heartbreaking. Best of luck in the contest! Evi

6 stars are extra special to me and I appreciate them. My life following my mom's death was not heart breaking. It required some adjustments and understanding and much of that happened because of Mrs. Curry. thank you.

I really like the choice of cursive font. It really marks this as a letter.

I too have had similar teachers in my life. It wasn't until I grew up that I realised how much care and attention they gave me. Something so special and not offered, even by immediate family.

A wonderful letter and thank you for reminding me of one or two amazing teachers who made such a positive impact on my young life.

This is a wonderful letter. Mrs. Curry stepped in an became line a mother for after your own mother passed away. She sounds wonderful. Every teenager without parent support needs someone like her in their life. You have written this in such a way that it sounds like you were really talking to her. Great job. Good luck in the contest.

When did your stepmother come into your life? Wasn't she there all those years you spent with Mrs. Curry? Just curious. The story is heart touching and very well executed. Best of luck in the contest.

I had two stepmothers and a live-in 'housekeeper'. My first stepmother only lasted 3 weeks. Daddy met her through a lonely hearts club, went to Georgia and brought her back. My second stepmother lasted a little over a year, including my senior year in high school. After she left, there was not another one, although my dad was engaged again and about to get married when he died on May 30, 1965. He would have been 70 in a few days. I never met her -- though Daddy had asked me to come home for a weekend. I got there on a Sat afternoon and Mrs. Curry met me at the same break in our fence to tell me that Mr. Curry had found Daddy dead in the bathroom that morning. Daddy was an early riser and they had not seen him out and about, so Mr. Curry went up to check on him. He had a heart attack. Mrs. Gibson-- the bride to be -- called that day and I answered. She was devastated.

Thanks for your interest and your review.

This is a beautiful story in retrospect. When we're young, we know when something is a blessings and we're grateful, but we don't know to say thank you. Adults that help us, recognize attributes of youth and understand. Therefore, Mrs. Curry knew how you felt and loved you dearly. Best wishes in the contest.

This was a beautifully written contest entry, Mystery Author.
I liked the picture and the cursive font. You gave readers great
details about your younger life and those years that followed.
Yes, God place Mrs. Curry in your life. It was a miracle. I believe
she gave you as much as you gave her. Your entry was well
thought out and well organized.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

You know there were a couple of people who were important in my life and you reminded me that never really thanked them at all. On particularly important man, (my best friend's dad, got me through a difficult time, I wish I had) beautifully written my friend, excellent job, blessings Roy
