Talk about regrets, one's anger can be a terrible thing, or unforgiveness. If the object of our resentment is dying, there is no way back from the ravine created by death, this is beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

Wow. This was totally unexpected, for me anyway.
For valid reasons to Lucy, she walked out of her home and mother. If she'd read the note or letter sooner, maybe, just maybe the dynamics would've been better.

Well done in so few words.

I thought you developed this little dribble very well, DD. The implied and unspoken message to the reader is supremely gripping and we all feel sorry for the main character. Lots of lessons here. So well done and I send you good luck!

Thanks, Melissa. I appreciate your review on my fictional dribble story. Thank goodness it was plucked from my imagination. Too sad if it was a real story. ~DD

Oh, how awful! There is never a good enough reason to leave our mums without a chat first. Now this lady has lost the chance. What a sad contest entry, DD, I'm sure many children who leave home really don't know why they did. Well done, and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

How very sad. You packed a complete story into just fifty words here. Well done.
I love flash fiction. Wishing you lots of luck in the competition. Jen.

Oh. There is certainly a moral there - not to leave communications unread. There was also the chance that Lucy's mother was becoming less bearable because the cancer was affecting her behaviour. I have already learned in my own life never to delay in communicating with older people; you never know when you might suddenly lose them. Congratulations on producing a very thought-provoking story. Wow! How heartbreaking to find the note 18 months after she stormed out of the house leaving the letter unopened only to read it maybe too late. I am careful to read notes left to me as soon as I get them for that reason alone. Thanks for sharing this dribble flash fiction tale and its heartfelt conclusion.

Ouch! Since it made me feel like that, this has to be an effective little tale. It is the sort of thing that could so easily happen and then that six months of vacuum. Readers imagine what the mother must have felt throughout those months and what Lucy must have felt on reading the note and the power of the piece becomes apparent as it should in a Flash.
