That is a wonderful and imaginative story of a therapy dog's day. These canines provide a valuable service to those in need. Your account is very well written. I'm glad that sunny is doing a great job! Evi

Thank you very much Evi! You are a wonderful encouragement to me. Being a dog, it's hard for me to write stories, but such reviews as yours make it a pleasure. Thank you for the six stars. I appreciate them a lot and I will share them with my Mama as she doesn't get that too often.

You have a therapy dog? That is awesome. I visited a nursing home once while there were two therapy dogs there. It was like a light came on in the place. Nothing speaks to the human like a dog. This was a fascinating read. Please post more about this. Gretchen

Thank you, Gretchen! Wonderful review. He is still in training as he only started on Feb 1 but he loves it, and gets very excited on Wednesdays, as he wears a little bandana with the Therapy Dogs logo, and another little one with an L plate (for "Learner"). You are so right. So many of these elderly people in Aged Care greatly miss the pets they used to have. They love the visits - and the chance to chat about their former pets. I wish we could go there more often.

What a joyful story to start my day with. I hope Sunny is doing fine for he like me may be less refined than show-breed types, but I'll snuggled with most anyone, (I lie) for a biscuit.

Lol, Tom, great review. He is in a class of his own. He laughed at your review! Thanks so much.

Sunny, you hang in there and you will do just fine. Sometimes these "prim and proper" pups are high maintenance and may be cute to others for only a few moments. Whereas you, are a lifer!

Wendy, I enjoyed your post because I'm a dog lover! Always was, always will be!
We have three in our home, and they are a huge part of making it a home!

Excellent...

Thank you so much John. Dogs are just so wonderful in every way. Sunny is very intuitive, and he loves his "work". He gets very excited on Wednesdays when I put on his two little bandanas, one with the Therapy Dog logo, the other with an L for "learner".

Good grief! I see dogs in baby carriages all the time around here, and I just want to shout to the owners, "Dogs are meant to walk!"

Although I would normally correct Sunny for using the term "old lady" instead of elderly woman or client, I understand that his feelings were hurt and he probably thought of her as an old lady - or old hag!

Sunny is doing a good job in sometimes difficult situations. Just like a human's work day!

So glad he chose to share this update with us.

xx to Sunny

Thank you Pam! Yes he probably should have written "elderly" rather than "old" - he was probably tired by the end of his day! Lol. But being "old" is still a privilege. I agree - dogs should be walking - they aren't babies. Thanks so much for reviewing - I am sure he apprecites it also.

It is a good job dogs don't have an ego like humans, otherwise there would be a battle on the streets. This is what I love about dogs, they are just innocent creatures, they have no idea about their breed or whether they are expensive to buy or not, they all think of themselves as nobody's until someone loves them. This is such an endearing write Wendy and your love of dogs is evident in every word, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly - you are exactly right. They have no interest in breeds, class structures, skin colour, size or shape. They just offer unconditional love. We could learn so much from them!! It seems actually that the Cavalier King Charles spaniels have a genetic tendency to heart problems. I've heard many times that mixed breed dogs are the healthiest of all. I am hoping so anyway, so that I have S for a long time.

Well done. Well written.
It's very difficult to know how much emotion to ascribe to pets. Certainly they know sadness and joy, acceptance, fear, anger, and such. More intricate such as jealousy and the like, I don't know.
Treats to Sunny and best wishes to you.

Definitely jealousy. He always is very needy for attention when the two year old is here. If she gets a cuddle he must have one too, and will tap my knees until he gets the same level of attention. Lol. It's quite humorous. Thanks for reviewing, Wayne. Yes, Sunny has had extra treats today, and I thank you for the good wishes. All appreciated.
