An amusing write from the POV of this fiesty, never say die, allamanda vine. I chuckled at the 'after she checked for spiders ' and she who won't get up a ladder. That sounds like me. My theory is if you make a lot of noise in the garden or shed the spiders hear you comingand leave ð??? doesn't always work though. A good read.
Cheers

Thank you Valda. Yes we Aussies are used to keeping our eyes open and making a bit of noise to scare away unwanted guests. Thanks so much for your review! I enjoyed it a lot.

You had me going for a minute there. I wasn't quite sure what was going on. I thought you were hacked. As a vine, this first-person accounting through plant's perspective is pretty funny.

Hi Wendy,
Well, Alice Amanda has started posting in Fanstory, eh? I haven't run into her before this. Her story takes me back, though. At our old homestead, before we bought this garden home, I got a piece of a vine from our neighbors. I planted it by our back deck. I blinked, it seemed, and it was all over the place... like an alien who had invaded our half acre of earth from another planet. It was taking over! Everywhere! Invincible vine! So many "ties" to the lattice around the base of our deck!

I was impressed by your neighbors desire and ingenuity to invent a watering source for their vine so they wouldn't have to depend on the city's supply, which had those restrictions during summer droughts.

"Next thing the lady wanted a screen to hide the water tank from public view." ... ( I suggest,
Next thing the lady wanted was a screen to hide the water tank from public view.)

"I was chosen because of my above qualities" ... ( I suggest,
I was chosen because of my height)

Nicely penned for the "Sentient Plants" event! Good Luck with it!
It made me think of a song by Peter Paul & Mary, called "The Garden Song", ( written by songwriter Dave Mallett, 1993).

Enjoy!

Thank you so much Kimbob. Great review. What did you do about the vine? Notoriously difficult to get rid of, or at least under control sometimes. Thanks for your suggestions too - made a couple of changes. Love the Peter, Paul and Mary clip. Good voices, very unassuming, and "normal" looking. Thank you.

I had an awful time trying to get rid of it. It just kept coming back!

What a great read, I wonder who the couple is that owns this now beautiful plant, whoever they might be I am fairly certain they will not like the idea of you climbing all over their roof, very well written****kahpot

I think the lady is waiting for the weather to cool down a bit and also stop raining. Always one or the other lately! She will definitely not be happy if Alice goes onto the roof! Lol. Thanks so much for a fun reviw. Always appreciated.

This is exceptionally creative. You had me going in the beginning, with the word 'post,' trying to figure out who was telling the story. The picture of the Golden Allamanda flowers is beautiful, and they tell a compelling and humorous story, especially when they said they are "heading for the roof." This is more interesting than you simply writing about your rainwater tank.

Thank you so much. I always feel happy when some-one enjoys a piece, especially if I have "led them along the garden path" at the beginning! And of course the post was really referring to a vine's need for support. Lol. Great review.

Out of sixes, Wendy!
And what a shame!
Your offering is absolutely delightful!
I love your character - of course, I love wild and wooly climbing flowering vines! Our yard is filled with them - especially a wisteria vine that my husband is convinced is possessed! :)
What a wonderful exercise this would be for a group of students to creatively explore!
Kudos!

Thank you for sharing!
Still smiling!

I LOVE wisteria. My favourite climbing plant, along with climbing roses. I am so glad you enjoyed this story so much. Your kind and supportive words are so encouraging and the thought of a six is delightful. Many thanks.

You weave a wicked story with your tough alllamanda tendrils.
Horizontal or vertical.
Religious or secular.
Pink or purple.
Existential questions.
Always aiming for the light.:-))Z.

This is very amusing, and oh so what we respect of our plants, and how we mis-treat them when they show a bit of originality. I especially enjoyed the way the house owners took into account their own aesthetic view of life, rather than the plant's needs. kay

Oh yes, we don't want originality or individuality if that means they go all over the roof! Lol. Thanks so much for reviewing. Glad to see you!

Wendy, this certainly deserves six stars. You had me guessing at the beginning, and the story was a delight to read. I don't know how you come up with all these wonderful ideas.

Thank you so much Anne. I am always happy when people enjoy my work, and to receive six stars as well is a super bonus, and I am very grateful. This situation with "Alice Amanda" happened to me a couple of years ago, so it's not really fiction - except that of course plants can't talk or write stories. Lol. Lovely review.

Lol! I remember when you wrote about this plant before and now you've given the plant her own personality! And what a plant she is - with plans to take over the world!! Great job with your entry - for next week!

Thank you - yes. You have a great memory. It was just a very short story before, but I rewrote it because the situation seemed to suit the prompt quite well. Lovely review. I am enjoying your prompts.
