Hi,
This fits the prompt well. Mental illness is sad. It steels all hope for a life we are all used to. It makes it hard to marry or, as you say, have a job.
It is sad how mental illness is not deemed as important as cancer or other deadly diseases. It ruins lives just as much as these. And it probably sometimes kills.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck with the prompt.
Joan

Hi there. I am so sorry about Erik. Nothing is worse than mental illness. It is a daily struggle, no sleep, no rest, just constant torture. The poem is well written and the picture is perfect. Best of luck in all that you do.

Coping is sometimes our biggest task. Most disorders can be controlled with today's meds and new practices. It's just a matter of finding the right combination of meds to accompany your own metabolism. Finding a Doctor to work with you is before you as well. Good luck to you and Erik too. Don't spend too much time wondering what you could have changed in the past. Always forward to that bright new future. Nice job, I liked your poem.

Your Sad Poems contest entry does not rhyme properly (with respect.) Check out the stanzas' to make it rhyme for the contest. Yes, your poem speaks of the love for Erik. Schizophrenia is an insidious disease with no known cure. Mental health is horrible, people don't believe what they can't see. Thanks for sharing. K xx

Thanks for reading my poem. The contest said to rhyme at least every other line..I checked and I have done that. If you read some of the other entries, you'll see what I mean. :)

How very sad this poem is and I have never known anyone with this condition and it must be scary for the sufferer and their families, a poignant write, love Dolly x

It's very scary, especially at the start when so much is unknown. Thank you for reading.

The sadness in your poem is palpable. Schizophrenia is such a destructive disease on the the afflicted person and all those close to him. I do wish modern medicine had a cure but as your poem clearly states, all the medicine does is keep him on an even keel. A heartfelt poem and a top contender for the competition.

Wow. This is really good. The rhyme scheme and rhythm are solid. You did a great job depicting mental illness in the schizophrenic form with humanity and compassion. Great job.

I love that this tender poem is from the point of view of a loved one. I imagine that the grief process reboots at every milestone he might have achieved.
