This is an excellent essay on aging and all the different schools and courses we have to take to be successful at it, (or not, LOL) The opening where you compare aging to the sunset and not having a specific time to notice it begins is well done. I found it amusing to read and think it would do well in a contest.

Nup, I ain't going down like the sun. But rising is getting harder in the morning. At our age we do ponder all the things we have achieved, people who were friends, now passed. I do wish God would give out raffle tickets for the final ride! K xx

My children and my students all knew that I believed in a new start every day, and that I had no memory for prior misbehaviours once they had been dealt with. (I told my students and my boys the same thing. Each day is a fresh start.)

I think that is a very important thing. Otherwise past errors or wrongs cloud one?s judgment about different situations, and it avoids "you always?.!" Or "You never ?.!" situations. I think we are very similar. Thanks so much for a positive and thoughtful review.

We always think we do a better job in parenting that our parents, and hopefully we improve over time. I have never considered myself old, but other opinions may differ. I think I did a good job bringing up the kids, but my daughters may have a different opinion. How interpret things is so different to others. If we have the best intentions and love life and embrace others I don't think we can go far wrong Wendy, a poignant write, love Dolly x
