This is an excellent essay on aging and all the different schools and courses we have to take to be successful at it, (or not, LOL) The opening where you compare aging to the sunset and not having a specific time to notice it begins is well done. I found it amusing to read and think it would do well in a contest.
Good luck.

I think you are right about life's lessons. The student has obviously grown into the teacher, especially in your appreciation of the beautiful things, people, and creatures, dear Wendy.
Sending you my best today as always.

Nup, I ain't going down like the sun. But rising is getting harder in the morning. At our age we do ponder all the things we have achieved, people who were friends, now passed. I do wish God would give out raffle tickets for the final ride! K xx

Lol. All in good time. The trouble is we don?t get more than one go at dying, no time to learn lessons and do it better next time around.
Thank you so much for your super review and six stars. So lovely of you. Much appreciated. Hugs to you for your support.

You are indeed blessed Wendy, the advent of not only teaching other's children, then having your own, and the myriad of attitudes children learn, but really, like ours, comes back to their non-threatening and nurturing, safe, environment, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

It's just a wonderful piece of work taking us through a lifetime of learning an evolving. This takes us through your childhood up until old age. What a learning curve, something we've all been through one way or the other. Thanks a lot for sharing. Ulla:)))

You have written a great essay on the process of aging and the lessons you have learned in each phase of life. I like what you said at the end, "One final thing I learned: blessings shared are multiplied and returned. I like your outlook on life. I suppose according to your description, I am in the sunset years, and I trust I have learned my lessons well.

Thank you for sharing these words of wisdom with us. Good luck with the contest you hope to enter.

My children and my students all knew that I believed in a new start every day, and that I had no memory for prior misbehaviours once they had been dealt with. (I told my students and my boys the same thing. Each day is a fresh start.)

I think that is a very important thing. Otherwise past errors or wrongs cloud one?s judgment about different situations, and it avoids "you always?.!" Or "You never ?.!" situations. I think we are very similar. Thanks so much for a positive and thoughtful review.

Criticism? Not from me! This is awesome. I'm going to keep it to read over and over. As I'm nearing 80 in September, you reminded me of some of the schools I've attended. My favorite was being a mother. I wish I could go back and do it again. I was blessed with wonderful sons. I always said God knew I didn't know what I was doing, so He sent me good material. Good luck on becoming a Hundred Best.

You cover a few points here Wendy, from ageing to difficulties in growing up, our emotions and how much we love our children. We always think we do a better job in parenting that our parents, and hopefully we improve over time. I have never considered myself old, but other opinions may differ. I think I did a good job bringing up the kids, but my daughters may have a different opinion. How interpret things is so different to others. If we have the best intentions and love life and embrace others I don't think we can go far wrong Wendy, a poignant write, love Dolly x
