This is an excellent article and packed with information. I found it quite interesting. However, (perhaps it's just me) about halfway through, I started having difficulty absorbing it all. Since the initial topic branches off, I think it would break quite nicely into two separate articles. Just a thought.

A very thought-provoking piece of work that definitely needs to be expanded into a book advancing practical alternatives for a fairer, more equal and sustainable way of living. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

What a lovely hodgepodge of information with the thread of "Utopia" holding it together, along with the elements of "dystopia" acting as contrasting forces. I only found one thing you might want to take a look at:

"Since then, the idea of utopia has been explored by many writers and philosophers, including Plato, Thomas Hobbes, and Karl Marx. [Of course, Plato was not "since then". If anything, I'm sure More had been influenced by the writings of Plato. ]

This was different from the customarily dense content we expect from you. I thorougly enjoyed it, John.

Ultra intellectual, so many neural pathways to entertain. But really interesting, but unless I was wanting to join the debating team at Oxford. But this is a unique posting, so I just had to read, but found my inability to absorb it...profoundly confronting. On a lighter note, I remember a family friend's daughter, wanting to be appreciated by clever, cool people, to embrace her own self definition to her upbringing, was sharing that she changed her ideals from a Christian upbringing a new 'religion' ...environmental issues, I asked her "Susan, how did you get here" I asked, she said, "by plane", "you mean one of the Earth's big polluters?" She left the table immediately, and went silent on us. Cognitive dissonant? Well done, blessings Roy

Just for you... I grew up in a commune in Central France. No indoor plumbing, no electricity, no radio, TV or phone and no toilet paper. Happiest days of my life.

I understand, we nearly joined one in the seventies, but decided against it.

This provides an excellent start for anyone interested in practical utopian concepts and some movements or ideas which oppose them. The ideas about AI and a new form of computing are also discussed.
