John, this is a very good entry for this contest. You created a love affair that brought two people together in an unusual way at their old school. Your great imagination has executed the story flawlessly. Terry.

Hi John,
This is well-written for the writing prompt, "Imagine the romance!" You've created two original fictional characters, and yet we only know her name, Marie.
They found a good place to meet in secret, the elementary school where they once worked together... teachers, perhaps? custodians?
There are a lot of "affairs" going on these days. We used to live beside a couple, who we thought were in love. We even ran into them one day at New River Beach, walking hand-in-hand with cold salty waves gnawing their ankles. All seemed perfect. But one day, shortly after New Years celebrations, a knock came to our door... it was a detective! He asked if we had ever seen any trouble at our neighbors. We hadn't, of course. Their son played with our oldest son on a regular basis. We wondered what was the problem, and he told us the man was dead... suicide. We were shocked! Apparently his wife was having an affair with one of his co-workers, and it had been going on for a couple of years! The secret lovers had planned it out... to tell their significant others right after the holiday. The police believed the husband was bent on killing his wife and co-worker, but couldn't find them. He parked at a nearby beach and shot himself in the neck. Crazy stuff, eh? "Imagine the romance" the secret lovers had to live with after that bit of news!
Good Luck with the contest, John!
Cheers,
Kimbob

So, though my story was fictitious, you know of a real life scenario. Crazy stuff.
Wow, thank you for those stars?

Superb and delightful story that rendered my interest from the beginning to a surprise twist at the end. A marvelous scribe of action through and through that can only surmise how created you are.

Yes, sir, as much as we'd all hate to admit it, there's a little cheater in all of us in the right situation when it comes down to it. But only once in a lifetime would we ever follow through. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

It is often that friendship turns to love, as this couple shows in this warm and comforting story.

Excellent imagery. I can actually see them enjoying their time together. Well done!

Excellent writing here of two people in love who met at work but are married to others. You have vivid descriptions that create a clear scene and the love between the two people comes through clearly. Best wishes for the contest.

This is the sweetest story for the contest..I loved it. They developed a real friendship which slowly turned into true love. But neither wanted to upset their respective spouses. Good luck. Ulla:)))

Your descriptive narrative is engaging. I felt like I was watching a movie and I was rooting for them. The 'what could have been' feeling reminds them they are married to other people and has them cherishing their stolen moments of romance.
I see you took second in the contest. Congratulations on a story well written.

How interesting, I have had that affinity with someone, but at the same time adoring the person I'm with, I'm not going to illuminate it anymore, but well done, but simply a great post, beautifully and imaginatively written, blessings Roy

I started to review this, and backed out. This time I could do it, albeit reluctantly. After all, you did call it fiction, and it was in response to a writing prompt, not ... Anyway, well written piece on stolen emotions.
Best wishes.
