If I can give up smoking, anyone can. I was a chain smoker. But one day I just decided that my health was more important and I have not smoked for fifteen years. It is not so hard to give up.

Addictions can rule our lives if we let them. It is hard to kick a bad habit of any kind once it gets ingrained in us. You tell a full tale in just eight words.

This is a good entry for the eight words or less contest. One could argue the use of - please - twice in a small space but it allows the reader to feel the desperation of vice. Nicely done and thank goodness your vices are not whisky and drugs. Best of luck.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes it is definitely a desperate plea. Quitting smoking was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. And yes, I am very grateful that I never developed a taste for alcohol and never tried any drugs. Dodging bullets there!
