The bottom picture looks almost like a cross between a lizard and a bird. The top picture looks like a bird for sure. I enjoyed reading your poem. I did a little research to see if they were here in Texas and there's possibly some around the coast. I guess they can breed in the panhandle. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful work as usual. I enjoy watching birds in the morning with my coffee. We have a few swampy areas in the county that are habited by beautiful white egrets. Now, I will look a little closer into the reeds to see if I can locate a bittern.

I see they are introverts like me and are home bodies. And dressed like that, those bitterns can become nearly invisible among the reeds. Thanks for sharing about these birds!

Grammatically And aesthetically pleasing I find no issues for suggestions for correction as this is extremely well done as is.

This was an enjoyable read. I heard long 'e' assonance with 'deep' and 'reeds' in line one. There was 'b' alliteration in the last two lines on emphasized words. I thought this helped capture a slice of bird life. Those bitterns have quite a life. Thanks for sharing a modern tanka.
