Hi John,
I think Salvator has finally got wise. How many blunders can one make before they smell the coffee?
Vincent is the gullible one, the risk-taker.
At 66 years of age, it's time to put schemes away. Buy a fishing rod and sit on the shores of a lake, casting a Hildebrandt spinner for 16" lake trout.
Then again, who would ever dream that torn jeans would be a big seller?
I would give them a hint. And this is as true as I sit here at this keyboard. Take it to the bank, John. A pet store. It's a gold mine! Think about it. People adore their pets... sometimes they love their pets more than their family. They'll do anything for them. They leave thousands of dollars to the local Animal Rescue League when they die instead of to family members. Small cans of dog and cat food sell for up to $6.00 or even more. You could buy a can of sockeye salmon for a cheaper price! Or Solid White Tuna! It's ludicrous!
Anyway, I enjoyed your story, John. Nice entry for the "Midas Bacteria" event in the Flash Fiction/Non-fiction club. Good Luck with it!
Cheers,
Kimbob

Wow, 66 and still trying to get rich quick. Talk about perseverance. And the energy to go along with it.

I always thought pet rocks were silly, but those jelly shoes were extremely comfortable. And I loved my bell bottoms. Maybe nano nuggets are finally the thing.

This made my cheeks hurt! I have friends and relatives who fit this description to a T. Just so fun with the craze's that made us crazy! I had a pet rock. He was such a great pet.

One typo, or maybe you meant it to be misspelled to be funny. "In like Flint" is from the motion picture, Our Man Flint.

Delightful, John.

Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the challenge.
Sal :))

    Perhaps both. Errol Flynn?

John, this is good...actually much better than good. The story of the two near do wells, who of course never did, is cleverly written. But the coup de grace was getting on Amazon! Brilliant! Terry.

Lol. I can guess what happens next. I wish them great success , but somehow .... What a fun response to the prompt. Well written and engaging. I haven't yet thought of anything for that prompt.

Haha, John, you did a great job with those two
nitwits. I enjoyed your fun story. You gave readers
some great and fun details about their past attempts
to get rich quickly. I believe this one will fizzle before
the first try at them collecting anything. I don't believe
the 'real' story to begin with--no offense to your story of
course.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Oh the scams and get rich schemes that some people try. I guess it's possible that they could finally hit it big as long as they keep trying. Hmm. Maybe not.
You have an excellent narrative voice. The dialog is engaging and shows the personalities of these two brothers.

I appreciate your fine review, Debi of this little snippet.
It was fun thinking of all those "fads" I lived through.

Hey John(((((((((,
what an entertaining story. I could see Sal and Vinny's cogs working overtime conjuring up their hair brained money-making schemes. But if the truth be told some of these hair brained ideas actual bag the big bucks... just not Sal and Vinny I suspect.

There was a drive a few years back here in Oz that saw old disused gold mines being snapped up at bargain-basement prices to do exactly this... extract gold by pumping arsenic into the mines. I'm not sure of the process, so this story had a tangible element to it... just not with the old cars... that was a crack up and put a big smile on my face.
Oh Sal...oh Vinny, Maybe Ding Bats will make their big return?

Great story, great imagination and creative writing John... all the very best in this contest.

With our thoughts we create...
opportunity.

Kind regards,
James.

Thank you for sharing this club entry with us. I am pretty sure this get rich scheme isn't going to work either. I bet they do sell nano, bacteria things on Amazon. LOL I enjoyed reading.

Sal looked up at him. "What makes you so sure, (editors advise writers to steer clear of 'looked' and to use a stronger verb. Maybe - Sal studied him.)
