Wow, this is quite a horror story of revenge dictated by the cards. Starting with those ominous few words, the prose developed well setting out the background and the build-up of tension as the alcohol, anger and messages from the cards starting to take effect turning the reader into some kind of dracula figure lusting after blood

When you see yourself as a bad fellow, usually you're not drunk; when you don't care what you do, then you are totally wasted. This story has lots of frightening thoughts. Hopefully the fellow changes his mind before he gets to Diane.

You sure have a magical way with words that always amazes me. I could read your writing for hours at a time. And this piece caught be off guard more than most. Thanks for sharing.

Much appreciated review as always.

This was a fine suspenseful tale. I did change my opinion of the protagonist as I read. First, he was a spurned lover, then maybe he was twisting what was reality to fit what the cards were saying. At the end, he was a psycho. I'm glad you gave the details as he saw them. Very well written. The hair on my arms was standing by the end of this. Gretchen

What a terrible, well written story. Using a deck of cards to determine one's fate happens all the time. You did a great job. Enjoy your Sunday. Shirley

Read this a day or two ago. Well done, mate. Always a good read. Think I only saw one tiny spag in there. "Leviathan" I think it should be. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to get back to Unwanted Dog.

Well, Brett, he had murder on his mind didn't he? He still needed the bottle for Dutch courage, though. I liked how you ended this leaving the reader to guess what was to happen next. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

The story is well-written and fulfills its requirement, but I just couldn't get into it. I guess it is just my kind of story. Best of luck with this in the contest.

Great build-up of the atmosphere of tension, anger and desire for vengeance. I'm glad you didn't describe the actual kill. The suspense was well done. Best wishes for your entry.

Well written.
unknown smuck named Emerson Townsend, - (schmuck?)
I guess you followed the letter of the prompt, even if the character didn't actually wake up that way.
Good luck in the contest.
