You make some very good points. I do not believe guns kill people, people kill people because they are angry or mentally ill and want their 15 minutes of fame. The French stopped identifying killers in the news and the attacks became less frequent.

It was evident you researched this well, too.
The subject is one which quickly causes people
to be on one of two sides. It is complicated in ways
many don't realize. Not every mass shooter has mental
issues. Laws, such as background checks, do not keep
anyone from obtaining a gun if they are so inclined. What
about the parents of the 6 year old who shot his teacher?
Yes, he had special needs, but how, why, and where did
he get the gun? Banning all guns will never work. Law
abiding folks may turn in their guns. How would we
know if all of the guns were turned in? Then, criminals
would know most anyone would be an easy target since
they wouldn't have a gun. However, the crims would. I don't
believe gun violence is an infatuation with Americans--it is
more of an infatuation with those from other countries. It's
easy to criticize anything when one is far removed from the
source.

We have heard all the excuses till we're blue in the face people kill people. NOzt Guns it is the idiot behind the trigger, or the old excuse I didn't know it was loaded. Or the kids new one! "I wanted to kow hiw it felt to kill some one." ReallyGive me a break!------------

The argument that a gun doesn't pick itself up and shoot is a very poor one. As long it's readily available, some idiot will pick it up.

Well, I certainly agree that it isn't guns that are to blame for the mass killings. Without the flawed brains of people, the guns are merely useless. And as for all the things people keep suggesting to stop gun violence, I never hear anyone say clean up the graphic violence in movies, television, and games that have dulled our senses to it, and to screen and recognize mental illness sooner. Not that any of these things can stop flagrant disregard for human life, hate, anger, jealousy, and envy. Thanks for sharing. Wish I had a six.

Three new tumors, two on the head that will require surgery, one on the leg indicating the cancer is spreading. But, enough about whining the blues, have done so now for 17 tumors. So appreciate your comments and reviews.

Dag nab it, Brett, those darn tumors just won't leave you alone. But thankfully they keep catching them, so hopefully they will finally stop popping up. I'm wishing you the best my friend, you'll be in my prayers every day! Skin cancers don't let up easily. I have a new melanoma they just found on Monday. Surgery is tomorrow. Thankfully they don't wait long on those boogers.

Good luck to you too, my friend. The tumor on the right side of my head we debated the operation today and decided to try pallative treatment first. The more I considered the option afterward the more I wished I'd told the doctor to cut. So, scheduled the surgery. He thinks that it may not be skin cancer, but something else. That kinda scares me some to be honest. Praying for you. Let me know how you do.

This is written in a way that makes perfect sense but will likely be read by those who agree with your position. However, I think the majority of people do agree. It is those in legislative positions who fear the NRA that will not won't to hear this. There are also those who believe the lies of the NRA's claims that the aim is to do away with the second ammentment and the rights of American citizens. No one wants that. We just need some universally exceped rules that can be inforced and will put a stop to the ability of people to kill masses with a single gun, If we could put to a vote to the people, I believe it would pass.

To me it seems that the horse has bolted so it is too late to shut the gate. The value of human life has been diminished, and that is seen not only in the number and frequency of murders by guns including mass murders, but abortion, legalisation of "assisted dying" and so on. It's probably very counter to all US cultural norms but I think idolatry and self focus have taken over and there is no longer any sense of community. Your article is very thought provoking and very well written.

At the same time, on a daily basis, women are sacrificing their babies for one reason or another in this country by abortion, which is still legal in many states. Why are some lives more valuable than others? We have a moral dilemma in this country. Sixty million babies have been killed since abortion was legalized. No doubt if the number of people who were killed by guns reached those proportions, something would be done about it. That being said, I'm a firm believer in the second amendment. As our government becomes more and more power hungry and tyrannical, I think the only thing keeping them at bay is the realization that they will be facing an armed multitude if they step over the line. I do appreciate you views though. Thanks for sharing this.

At the same time, on a daily basis, women are sacrificing their babies for one reason or another in this country by abortion, which is still legal in many states. Why are some lives more valuable than others? We have a moral dilemma in this country. Sixty million babies have been killed since abortion was legalized.
