Wow!!! That was simply genius, Terry!!! Really carefully crafted and made sense all along. I like the line: I decided to ask my consultant!!!! What a perfect lose... sorry, I had a misstep here... but I really think you deserve the 1st prize. And definitely NOT the lover's prize!!!

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Congratulation, Terry, on your first- place finish! A hilarious little piece that had me grinning from the beginning to the end. I can't believe anyone would call you a loser. My favorite line, 'My best shot comes in a whiskey glass.' That one I outright laughed. Again, congratulations!

I love how you draw in the Fanstory community and sort of break the 'fourth wall' in a way. It was humorous and sweet. Liked the joke at the end about promoting it. :)

Thanks for the read!

Zoe, my wife's name was Zoe. There is a birthday story about her in my portfolio I posted a few days ago. Thank you for the wonderful review, I am glad you got the humor and the twist at the end. Terry.

Congrats on your win, Terry!
I'm a fan of baseball. 162 games of slumps and hot streaks. Batters and pitchers alike. It's the nature of the game.
You have the right stuff to bull your way through, or you don't. You do.
Now, ride this win into five more. It's the way it goes.

Peace, Lee

Hi Terry, after reading your well-written story, I can see, and understand, why you won this contest. You always write from the heart and humor sells. I especially liked:

"My best shot comes in a whiskey glass."
(You're a guy after my own heart, but after losing my kidney, alcohol is off my list. However, I have fond memories of those time. Lol.)

Well chosen artwork. A pleasure to read. This story made me smile, and I'm glad that you won! Margaret ~ LateBloomer

Well, I must admit you got me laughing with your line, "Lookie here, Bucky, they already laugh at you," but because it was funny -- and there ain't nothin' wrong with funny! But this is a contest about entering another contest. Now my head's spinning. Good luck with this one, and for your ego I hope you win the next one.

Jay, thank you very much, and it was a winner, but who really cares? It was all in fun.

This is a funny but realistic and understandable post. I have felt the same way many times. You've said it in a way that made many of us laugh. Good luck in the contest.

I just voted for this in the blind contest this morning. I left a comment too. I should have known it was you. I've been chuckling all day.

Congratulations on your ribbon! Well deserved!
No losing today.

-Good artwork and story to go with it, Terry.
-Congratulations on the win.
-You always tell a good story and I like
this dialogue with yourself.
-I like your line about asking your "consultant in the mirror."
I'm guessing it doesn't lie!
-Your consultant also has a good point about a blind contest.
-I also like your comment about your best shot.
-Looks like it worked out!

Well, it's certainly an advantage to have not seen this post until I saw it listed as the contest winner! (smile)--

Do you know how we don't have used cars anymore? They are "pre-owned"

AND no reruns on TV... They are "Encore performances."

So too it ought to be with this whole concept! It's not a contest for "losers" -- It's a contest for "Award-challenged" writers!

(Okay, I'm joshing...but it was fun to read your "conversation with self")

Great hidden asset listing those very succesful and popular and Excellent writers...

Just be sure to include yourself in that list.

The ONLY reason you haven't won a contest before this one, in the past thirty days... I suspect is because you haven't been posting much!

Congrats on the win...

Karenina

LOL, Karenina...You might consider expanding on those terms...sound like a story to me...and a good funny one at that. Thanks, Terry.

Hmmmm. I've been looking for a "hook" to try out some prose...

    Thanks for the idea!
