Needs Improvement

I admire your passion in recalling an era that is now largely passed. Unlike you, however, I recognize that even the golden era had its serious faults that needed repair.

Suggest getting someone to examine your words before you post it.
Consider this:

We knew what Red lights meant, and didn't worry about entering the intersection. [Confusing. Grammar errors.]

We knew what a red light meant and didn't worry about driving into the intersection when we had a green light.

We did our best in our job, and welcomed an honest review and pay for performance. [Confusing. Grammar errors.]

We did our best on the job and welcomed an honest review with merit pay for exceptional performances.

This entry for the contest may cause us to stop in our tracks- the world referred to here almost seems as if it belongs to an ancient past, which of course it doesn't but rather it highlights how quickly events in our world have deteriorated so much in such a short time-it's scary, quite frankly! Thanks for sharing these sentiments.

Thank you, Zanya, for reading this poem/story and for the Exceptional review. Unfortunately, we are where we are, and I don't hold out much hope for us. Most of our leaders are not recognizing the threat coming from the Chinese Communist party and they are working towards a direct confrontation. We're screwed.

Your reminiscing brings back so many memories and much TRUTH. You and I must be contemporaries as I remember most of what you're saying as being correct. I, too, feel the country is broken and I don't see it being fixed if Trump and Biden are the presidential candidates. Rod

Thank you again, Rod, for reading this poem and for the very nice review. We're screwed on so many levels, and I don't believe most of our leaders know our situation. If you want to read two books that tell it like it is - Unrestricted Warfare and
Kings of the East tell us what the CCP are up to. I don't believe we have any chance to stop it. Thanks for letting me vent.
YOUR support helps me to keep writing. Pounding the table just upsets the dogs, and I don't even have any anymore.

I'm 79, and have not seen a perfect world, but I would take the old days back in a heartbeat. Common sense used to mean something; I think 'common' now is getting a bad rap.
Thank you very much for letting me know I am not alone in my beliefs. I'm sorry my 'Miracle Glue' doesn't have the power to make the necessary changes.
