This is a very wonderful contest entry that is so full of God and His many blessings He bestows upon His children. What an amazing testimony you have given by writing this. We should always honor and believe in God. With God all things are possible! Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. This story of faith tested to breaking and redemption has what the best memoirs possess-the ability to make one cry while lifting one's spirits.
The narration does an excellent job in the first 3 paragraphs of the history of the jade cross and its meaning to the author and how it represents their grandmother. The cross became synonymous with Grandmother staying at the writer's side and guiding them through their life.
The description of the chain of disastrous events culminating over a relatively short period of time builds the story up rather than bog it down. The story appears to have two happy endings. One for the entire family and foster children and the personal message from God and Grandma-faith carries you when the physical is no longer seen and felt. I imagined Grandmother giving God an elbow then both smiling with a wink and a nod.
Punctuation is a minor concern:
"How," I cried, "can it get much worse than this?" What," I screamed, "would you have me do now!" (changed to question mark, removed punctuaion in front of What) suggestion only.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I appreciate you taking the time to comment on the entire post! I will make the changes to my grammar mistakes. I'm not always the best at catching such things - glad you did!

I always catch grammar AFTER I hit submit, not before. It's like a super power! Ha!

How lovely your grandmother's cross is, and what a blessing that it was restored to you. Your life took a deep swoop in fortune, like a U-shape in a graph, then an equally steep upward climb when everything good occurred. Why does this happen? Only God knows.

Thank you. I truly appreciate the great review. I never take the cross off now. It'll be my granddaughter's someday.

This is a lovely story well told with giving God the credit. Lots of fine people were influenced by Him and there could not have been a better time of the year than at Christmas.
